Processors Pooled

Preconditioning is used commercially by chip-potato processors to compensate the unpredictable nature of reconditioning of process varieties and to achieve market flexibility (Brook et al., 1995). During this phase, the storage environment is maintained at conditions similar to the wound healing phase (12-16°C) with the pulp temperature actively controlled in order to eliminate pools of reducing sugars in process potatoes. The duration of this phase is dependent... [Pg.359]

The Na vapor, traveling at vapor velocities of roughly 8-10 m/s at 1200 K, condenses on the heat exchanger tubes in the dome (the condensing vapor heat exchanger, CVHX) and returns as liquid droplets to the pool, thus completing the cycle. In the dome, the CVHX transfers the thermal energy out of the module to various chemical processors located some distance from the reactor. [Pg.512]

The best typist in the pool can type 65 words per minute on the typewriter and 80 words per minute on the word processor. [Pg.188]

From 1965-1969 the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool contracted production of low erucic acid seed obtained from Agriculture Canada, Saskatoon, and crushed commercial quantities for evaluation of the oil by Canada Packers and other edible oil processors. Higher costs were involved in handling the low erucic seed and processors were unwilling to pay a premium therefore, production remained at a low level. With an abundance of European sunflower oil available for salad oil production, interest in low erucic and stabilized salad oil was also dampened. [Pg.72]

As future work, the parameters used to optimize the Type-2 fuzzy logic controller could vary to obtain a smaller error, this can be achieved by increasing the element pool size and the number of iterations, and a parallel computation can be used, i.e. designing a cluster to divide the task of computing every chemical reaction procedure in separate computers/processors. [Pg.58]

Application-oriented FTU The units of replication in an application-oriented FTU are also nodes belonging to a common pool of redundant nodes defined for a specific application. When the primary node fails, only nodes that are designated replicas of the application to which the failed node belongs will take over [9]. There are separate controllers for boilers and turbines. Similarly, each of them may have separate subsystems for application processing. Now, if any of these application processors fails, one application-oriented FTU from a common application processing subsystem can take over the function so that the entire system continues to operate uninterrupted. [Pg.809]

The second approach to speed up processing of a virtual library involves clustering or pooling reagents based on similarity. For example, we can take 1000 building blocks and cluster them, based on their similarity, down to 50 families. Then we only need tp use one representative member of each family in our library evaluation. Thus, if there are three positions, instead of KXK) = 10 compounds, there are only 5CP, or 125000. Using 32 processors, at one molecule/minute/processor, we can examine one library of 125000 compounds in 3 days, or 12 libraries in 1 month. [Pg.1229]
