Step 1. AU process or design changes in commercial products are considered by a business team assigned to that product. 

Preliminary simulation results shall be available six weeks after Seller receives all the agreed to information from the Purchaser. The intent is to have results in time for necessary modifications or design changes to be incorporated into the process design without affecting the train startup. 

Refiners can address the sulfur issue in stages, but decisions should be made that will leave the door open for further reductions. If hydrotreating is selected, the design can include oversized reactors, connections for a spare compressor, or connections for adding amine scrubbing inside the recycle loop. Some process or catalyst changes can buy time, some can solve the problem. 

Corrective action A documented design, process, or procedure change used to eliminate the cause of a failure or design deficiency. It could also mean the action to mitigate the risk of hazard caused by failure (effective reduction of severity or probability of occurrence). 

Introducing the risk assessment process will explicitly change the design process, allowing hazards to be identified and risk reduction methods to be incorporated early in the design process. As with any new process or substantial change, people may resist. ... 

There have been numerous efforts to inspect specimens by ultrasonic reflectivity (or pulse-echo) measurements. In these inspections ultrasonic reflectivity is often used to observe changes in the acoustical impedance, and from this observation to localize defects in the specimen. However, the term defect is related to any discontinuity within the specimen and, consequently, more information is needed than only ultrasonic reflectivity to define the discontinuity as a defect. This information may be provided by three-dimensional ultrasonic reflection tomography and a priori knowledge about the specimen (e.g., the specimen fabrication process, its design, the intended purpose and the material). A more comprehensive review of defect characterization and related nondestructive evaluation (NDE) methods is provided elsewhere [1]. 

Correcting Particle Segregation. The main techniques to consider when segregation problems are present are to change the material, change the process, or change the design of the equipment. 

Heat transfer and mass transfer occur simultaneously whenever a transfer operation involves a change in phase or a chemical reaction. Of these two situations, only the first is considered herein because in reacting systems the complications of chemical reaction mechanisms and pathways are usually primary (see HeaT-EXCHANGETECHNOLOGy). Even in processes involving phase changes, design is frequendy based on the heat-transfer process alone mass transfer is presumed to add no compHcations. But in fact mass transfer effects do influence and can even limit the process rate.
