The dimensionless ratio R is the ratio of the maximum deflagration pressure, in absolute pressure units, to the maximum initial pressure, in consistent absolute pressure units. For gas/air mixtures, R shall be taken as 9.0 for dust/air mixtures, R shall be taken as 10.0. 

Industrial boilers are employed over a wide range of applications, from large power-generating units with sophisticated control systems, which maximize efficiency, to small low-pressure units for space or process heating, which emphasize simpficity and low capital cost. Although their usual primary function is to provide energy in the form of steam, in some applications steam generation is incidental to a process objective, e.g., a chemical recovery unit in the paper industry. 

There s no one specific pressure unit you have to use when doing problems with Dalton s pcirtial-pressures equation. As long as the pressure units for all the gases are the same, you re good to go. However, if all the pressures given aren t in the Scime units, then some conversion must take place ... 

A note on units - we have used Si-based units throughout. The only controversial choice is the use of K for temperature. We use it because it greatly simplifies thermodynamic calculations. We use bar as our pressure unit for the same reason. Lastly we use Nm3 as our gas volume unit. It is 1 m3 of gas at 273 K and 1 atmosphere (1.01325 bar) pressure. 22.4 Nm3 contain 1 kg-mole of ideal gas.

A readout circuit usually converts the measured filament temperature into pressure units for display.

In this equation, P and Pq can be in any pressure units, for example, Torr. Pg is the pressure at sea level, generally taken to be 1.00 atm or its equivalent. The units in the exponential term must be SI units, however. Use the barometric formula to...
