Pressure pad

Two types of floater aozzles are curreafly ia use and they are based on two different principles. The Bernoulli principle is used ia the airfoil flotatioa aozzles, ia which the air flows from the aozzle parallel to the web and the high velocities create a reduced pressure, which attracts the web while keeping the web from touching the nozzles. The Coanda effect is used to create a flotation nozzle when the air is focused and thus a pressure pad is created to support the web as shown ia Figure 19. 

A pressure pad, also used as a form of trap protection, is a flat rectangular, plastic-covered contact placed at strategic points underneath a carpet. 

Separator or Release Sheets. Separator or release sheets are used to free the reverse side of a laminate either from pressure padding material or the adjacent laminate normally they are paper of the glassine type, coated with release agents. 

Regardless of the heating source, elevated-temperature curing epoxy adhesives necessitate that the parts be held with clamps, pressure pads, or fixturing methods to apply constant and uniform pressure throughout the curing cycle. Reduction in viscosity due to elevated temperatures could result in excessive adhesive flow during cure. This could result in joints that are starved of adhesive or movement of the parts, if not firmly fixtured.

Draining of the ndsorption fluid is accomplished by gravity flow, sometimes assisted by a 10-20 peig pressure pad. The liquid must be given at least about 30 min to drain thoroughly. Even then, there will be significant holdup to account for. 

The sensor is usually an infrared sensor, but pressure pads are also used.

In air turns with double-slot air bars, the cushion pressure is not uniform, but is made up of two separate and distinct pressures. The first is developed over the face of the air bar and is referred to as the pressure pad, while the second is a back pressure component that occurs as a function of the spent air condition, if any, between air bars. The two pressure fractions are weighted by the area according to the proportion of wrap area they each represent the weighted pressure, in total, must be equal to the equivalent uniform cushion pressure required. Pressure combinations as well as pressure and area combinations suitable for any given tension are virtually unlimited.
