Pressure origin

Abnormal Formation Pressures Origin. Four main causes are attributed to abnormal formation pressures compaction effects, diagenetic effects, differential density effects and fluid migration.

The increase in pressure originates in the heart, and here we calculate the work added to the blood as useful energy. Beside the excess internal pressure originating from osmotic phenomena due to the transport of solvent molecules, the incorporation of counterions also contributes to the development of a pressure difference, because the crosslinked polymer network must expand to accommodate counterions. Evans et al. [14,15] have dealt with this problem, and proved that for poly(vinylferrocene) (PVF) films the latter one is the more important pressure-generating mechanism.
