Pressure generating system

The basic elements of a prototype pressurization apparatus are a high-pressure steel cell for the sample to be treated, a high-pressure generating system, a temperature controller, and a loading system for the material to be treated [28].

The type of pressure-generating system normally used for pressures up to 5 kbar is well described in literature. A typical design, used for NMR experiments and with a liquid pressure-transmitting medium is shown in Fig. 4.23. 

The pressure is measured by means of a Heise-Bourdon pressure gauge. The components of the pressure-generating system (hand pumps, high-pressure tubing, valves, gauges, high-pressure separators) are available from several commercial sources. 

Check the high-pressure-generation system (oil separator, hand pump, and valves see Fig. 4.23). 

High-pressure DTA has been reviewed briefly by Locke (72). The previous studies have been concerned mainly with the effect of pressure on solid - liquid and solid - solid, equilibria. The equipment used in high-pressure studies employs piston-cylinder pressure-generating systems in the 60-80-kbar range, while lower-pressure equipmem involves external pressurization by gases. 

Figure 1 shows a schematic drawing of the high-pressure generating system used in our laboratory, illustrating the relative amplicity of the standard equipment used to generate high hydrostatic pressure. This system can produce hydrostatic pressure up to 1 GPa. 

If the level of pressure determined to a large extent by the mass and the pressure consumer prescribed or not alterable, the measures have to be concentrated on the pressure-generating system screw /cylinder. 

The hydraulic drive respectively the pressure-generating system determine the press force.
