Prepare Mold

Molds must be checked for damage prior to use and preheated to a temperature equal to the maximum that the exotherm will reach when the prepolymer and curative are reacted together. If required, a thin coating of mold release is applied to the mold to assist in the demolding process. It is often found that more that one release can be obtained from the mold that has previously been prepared. [Pg.72]

Many different processes are patented for preparing latex foam but only two are of commercial interest for preparing molded cushioning stock the Dunlop, which is most widely used, and the Talalay processes. Some producers have developed variations, which are combinations of the two processes. [Pg.259]

The above results shown in Figs. 12 and 13 can be discussed in connection with the application of the thermoplasticized wood. The thermoplasticized wood can be used as material for molding, and as one way of utilization, can be used as blend composites with synthetic polymers. If this blending is made by grafting as shown above, two benefits can at least be pointed out (a) the thermoplasticity of wood materials is enhanced. (Better results can be obtained with esterified wood.) (b) the compatibility of the plasticized wood with synthetic polymers increases by the grafting. These factors are considered to be advantageous for preparing molded composites with excellent final properties. [Pg.347]

Ohno [1] prepared a polyaromatic ether containing an imide termini, (1), that had a lower dielectric and moisture absorption properties and ease of processability than the imide-free precursor. The imide-functionalized product was used to prepare molding. [Pg.709]

Unsaturated polyester resins are one of the most important thermosetting resins used for preparing molding compounds for hot-press matched molding, cold molding, eind contact molding. [Pg.201]

The extruder can be used for a variety of polymerizations even if no preformed polymer is present.89 These include the continuous anionic polymerization of caprolactam to produce nylon 6,90 anionic polymerization of capro-lactone 91 anionic polymerization of styrene 92 cationic copolymerization of 1,3-dioxolane and methylal 93 free radical polymerization of methyl methacrylate 94 addition of ammonia to maleic anhydride to form poly(succin-imide) 95 and preparation of an acrylated polyurethane from polycaprolactone, 4,4 -methylenebis(phenyl isocyanate), and 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate.96 The technique of reaction injection molding to prepare molded parts is slightly different. Polyurethanes can be made this way by... [Pg.209]

Recycled polyamide was mixed with GRT powder of 80 mesh up to concentrations of 60 wt.% in a Brabender internal mixer and compression molded (Hassan et al., 2010). The prepared moldings were subjected to gamma irradiation for up to absorbed dose of 200 kGy. Properties of the blends as a function of the irradiation dose and GRT concentration were studied. It was shown that due to the weak interfacial adhesion, the mechanical performance of blends reduced by the incorporation of the GRT. The irradiation also decreased the tensile strength and elongation at break, although the SEM studies indicated that irradiation provided a more smooth fracture surface. [Pg.740]

The cycle time is the total of the three stages mold preparation and preform preparation, mold filling and resin cure. Mold filling time is predicted by using the flow models. Cure model is used to determine the degree of resin cure and if a database is available which relates the degree of cure to the mechanical properties, the user can decide when to demold the part. [Pg.278]

Welding processes are predominantly used In mold making to prepare mold corrections. Generally, aluminum and aluminum alloys can be welded with all known welding processes. For the applicability of each process in practice, there are, as for all metals, differences that are due to alloying elements, which concern specific physical properties and the efficiency. [Pg.479]

The classic techniques for making ceramics consist in the deposition or molding of a powder suspension. Thus, the main steps include powder preparation, molding or deposition, drying, and sintering (see Fig. 5). [Pg.363]

Prepare molds by taping one side with plastic tape, e.g., sequencing tape, and, if necessary, label rows to distinguish different genotypes (Figure 29.IB). [Pg.530]
