Preparations and Methods

The following experiments introduce students to the importance of sample preparation and methods for extracting analytes from their matrix. Each experiment includes a brief description of the sample and analyte, as well as the method of analysis used to measure the analyte s concentration. 

Compounds bearing the functional groups of the present chapter are usually analyzed for the characteristic N heteroatom and less frequently for O. In this section some recent advances in the analysis of these heteroatoms are presented. A critical review appeared of the analysis of the nutrient elements C, N, P and Si, and their speciation in environmental waters, including sample collection and preservation, sample preparation and methods for end analysis5. 

For a liquid or semi-solid pharmaceutical dosage form, it is crucial to include a preservative in the formulation. Commonly used preservatives in these systems include sodium benzoate, EDTA, sorbic acid, and parabens. A generic HPLC method is also recommended for the preservatives used in liquid formulations for routine monitoring to ensure the stability of the preservative itself and it must be validated specific to its use with the dosage form. The description of these apparatuses, sample preparation and method of determination along with the manner of presentation of the results are given in the literature in detail [48] and only an account of the salient features is given here. 

Preparation and Methods of Standardization The details for the preparation and standardization of solutions used in several normalities are usually given only for the one most frequently required. Solutions of other normalities are prepared and standardized in the same general manner as described. Solutions of lower normalities may be prepared accurately by making an exact dilution of a stronger solution, but solutions prepared in this way should be restandardized before use.

Its thermal behavior in the range of 30-200°C should be independent of its thermal history, method of preparation, and method of storage.

Various stresses lead to disfunction of bioenergetic functions of mitochondria and an excess produce of ROS that underlie the development of pathological processes [1]. One of the most important tasks is the search for preparations and methods for protecting the organism from an oxidative stress caused by the action of adverse environmental impacts. We assumed that the main property of adaptogens is the reduction of the of ROS level in cells. Since mitochondria are the main source of ROS under stress conditions, we proposed the hypothesis that the basic mechanism of action of preparations-adaptogens is the reduction of generation of ROS.
