Prefabricated sections manufacturing

This large market includes residential housing and commercial building, in addition to roads, bridges, and other elements of the infrastructure. The largest volume of adhesives presently used is for nonstructural applications however, the use of structural adhesives is expected to increase in the future. While some end uses will involve primary structural bonds, most will be semi-structural, in which the adhesive will be used in combination with a mechanical fastener. The use of adhesives is also expected to increase as the trend towards the manufacture of prefabricated sections continues. Laminated beams and trusses are one established use for structural adhesives, typically phenolic, but there is now interest in urethanes for this purpose. Epoxies are also widely used, mostly for the bonding and repair of concrete. [Pg.19]

Adhesives are also used in the manufacturing of prefabricated sections or assemblies. Examples include complete wall sections with the sheathing bonded to wood frames roof sections with sheathing bonded to j oists and rafters to provide T-beam action and box beams and other types of composite beams for joists or rafters. ] Phenolic adhesives are used in the fabrication of laminated beams and trusses. Epoxies are also widely used for bonding and the repair of concrete. ]... [Pg.545]

Prefabricated units, other than regularly manufactured buttwelding fittings, that employ plate and longitudinal seams, as contrasted with pipe that has been produced and tested under one of the specifications listed in this Part, shall be designed, constructed, and tested under requirements of the ASME BPV Code Section VIII, Division 1. These requirements are not intended to apply to such partial assemblies as split rings or collars, or to other field-welded details. [Pg.135]

Sheet pile elements are bended steel plates with U- or Z-shaped sections and contain a side groove to connect next sheet pile elements. Some heavy-duty elements have l -shaped sections. The sheet pile elements can be driven along the wall layout line directly. Piles are premanufactured to be installed side by side and automatically connected to one another. Therefore, sheet pile retaining systems can be installed much quicker than other systems. Most sheet pile elements have connections that are water tight. As a result, sheet pile systems are commonly used in hydraulic projects. Steel is the most common sheet pile material. Presently, there are vinyl sheet pile products available in the market. For transportation projects, sheet pile systems are often used as a temporary shoring structure. When sheet piles are used as a permanent system, a wall cap on top shall be specified. Some manufacturers have their own prefabricated cap system. It is a common practice to build a concrete cap. If the wall was used as part of a support structure, the sheet pile wall can directly be embedded into the above structure s concrete base. [Pg.311]

In the following, the different methods to create libraries of oxide materials will be discussed. We place only little emphasis on the synthesis of supported catalysts or modified zeolites by ion-exchange, wet impregnation, or other methods. Such procedures usually rely on custom manufactured prefabricated, typically oxidic support materials and oxides are not necessarily formed. To a much larger extent than in the carrier beads, which are used in the split-and-pool approach (see Section 12.3.6), the support material plays an essential role in the final materials, be it for high dispersion of a noble metal compound or by providing catalytically active sites as in a zeolite. [Pg.396]
