Power connectors type

The first type are called floppy drive power connectors because they are most commonly used to power floppy disk drives. This type of connector is smaller and flatter (as shown in Figure 2.28) than any of the other types of power connectors. These connectors are also called Berg connectors. [Pg.98]

The next type of power connector is called the system connector. There are only two of these, labeled P8 and P9 (shown in Figure 2.29). They connect to the motherboard and deliver the power that feeds the electronic components on it. These connectors have small tabs on them that interlock with tabs on the power connector on the motherboard. If there are two connectors, you must install them in the correct fashion. To do this (on most systems) place the connectors side by side with their black wires together, and then push the connectors onto the receptacle on the motherboard. [Pg.99]

The last type of connector is the standard peripheral power connector. This type of connector is usually used to power different types of internal disk drives. This type of connector is also called a Molex connector. [Pg.100]

Threaded connectors There are several different types of threaded connectors. In the type discussed in this section, both the connector and the end of the fluid line are threaded. These connectors are used in some low-pressure fluid power systems and are usually made of steel, copper, and brass is available in a variety of designs. [Pg.623]

The second major area for the use of plastics in electrical applications is at the terminations of the conductors. The connectors that are used to tie the wires into the equipment using the power, or used to connect the wires to the power source, are rigid members with spaced contacts. These are designed to connect with a mating unit and to the extension wires. The other type of wire termination is terminal boards where there are means to secure the ends of the wire leading to the equipment and the internal wiring in the equipment. These termination units require ... [Pg.225]

The design of a connector is a fairly straightforward process. It is easily illustrated with the example of a two-element connector of the type that may be used for either a power connection or to plug in an audio system. However multiple-element (32 and over) are extensively used. The... [Pg.225]

Figure 8.12 Two types of electrotransfer apparatus. At the left a tank transfer cell is shown in an exploded view. The cassette (1) holds the gel (2) and transfer membrane (3) between buffer-saturated filter paper pads (4). The cassette is inserted vertically into the buffer-filled tank (5) between positive and negative electrodes (not shown). A lid with connectors and leads for applying electrical power is not shown. On the right side of the figure is shown an exploded view of a semidry transfer unit. The gel (5) and membrane (6) are sandwiched between buffer-saturated stacks of filter paper (4) and placed between the cathode assembly (3) and anode plate (7). A safety lid (1) attaches to the base (9). Power is applied through cables (8). Figure 8.12 Two types of electrotransfer apparatus. At the left a tank transfer cell is shown in an exploded view. A power supply has three types of connectors used to power the various devices within the computer (Figure 2.27). Each has a different appearance and way of connecting to the device. Additionally, each type is used for a specific purpose. [Pg.98]

Berg connector A type of connector most commonly used in PC floppy drive power cables it has four conductors arranged in a row. [Pg.813]

Integrated electrodes are another option available for microchips in which the electrodes are fabricated into the microchip itself. Thin strips of metal, usually gold, are deposited on either the substrate containing the channels or the cover plate. Methods for this type of metal deposition and micropatterning are well established in the semiconductor industry. The interface connection then resembles a computer board in which the microchip plugs into a connector to make contact with the power supply. Although useful for disposable... [Pg.532]

The applications of PCs are extensive, emanating into all types of markets. A sample would include electronic connectors, switches, terminal blocks, computer disc packs, storage modules and housings, appliance power-tool housings, vacuum cleaner impellers, fan and air-conditioner grills, automotive instrument panels, indoor and outdoor lighting diffusers, medical kidney dialysers and blood oxygenators, and a host of others. [Pg.433]
