On the other hand there is sometimes the risk that odour reduction increases the volatilization of ammonia. This can be the case with under cage diying of poultry manure or with anaerobic digestion of liquid manure.

The use of manure remains largely restricted to anaerobic digestion systems, although FibreWatt and others have developed stoker fired systems for poultry litter, and increased en hasis is being placed on gasification of these materials.
