Poster presentation color

Congratulations If you are reading this chapter, you are likely preparing a poster for a scientific conference. This means that your conference abstract (chapter 8) was accepted and that you have been invited to give a poster presentation. In this chapter, we focus on the various sections of the poster and how to write them. In chapter 10, we highlight the visual attributes of the poster (layout, font size, color schemes, etc.). By the end of this chapter, you will be able to do the following ... [Pg.293]

To conclude this section and chapter, we present three sample posters (figures 10.7-10.9) created from text developed in chapter 9 and design elements discussed in this chapter. (See also figure 9.1 in chapter 9 for a fourth sample poster.) Table 10.3 summarizes some of the design elements of these posters. Full-color versions of these posters are available at the Write Like a Chemist Web site. Together, we hope that these four posters stimulate ideas for preparing your own poster. [Pg.349]

Pharmaceutical companies encourage employees to publish the results of their scientific research. Industrial chemists write articles for journals, give lectures at universities and conferences, or present posters at scientific congresses. Some of them serve as journal referees or editors and as conference organizers. Their employers also sponsor scientific publishing in a variety of ways. They cover the page charges levied by certain journals, pay for splendid posters and colorful slides, reimburse employees for travel expenses, or subsidize conferences. [Pg.112]

Not long ago, a poster consisted of 8-12 sheets of paper cut and pasted onto individual pieces of colored construction paper. Today, most institutions have plotters, which can print multicolored single-page posters (e.g., 3 ft X 5 ft or 0.91 m X 1.52 m) from software files (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint or Adobe Illustrator). We assume that you have access to such plotters and software, and we present only single-page posters in this textbook. Such advances make it possible for even the first-time presenter to create professional quality posters. [Pg.336]
