Polymeric fluorine compound

Polytetrafluoroethylene (Tf) is a polymeric fluorine compound that consists of a -C2F4- molecular structure, ini which contains a mass fraction of fluorine of 0.75. Tf is insoluble in water and its specific mass is in the range 3550-4200 kg nr in peUe-... [Pg.293]

CoF is used for the replacement of hydrogen with fluorine in halocarbons (5) for fluorination of xylylalkanes, used in vapor-phase soldering fluxes (6) formation of dibutyl decalins (7) fluorination of alkynes (8) synthesis of unsaturated or partially fluorinated compounds (9—11) and conversion of aromatic compounds to perfluorocycHc compounds (see Fluorine compounds, organic). CoF rarely causes polymerization of hydrocarbons. CoF is also used for the conversion of metal oxides to higher valency metal fluorides, eg, in the assay of uranium ore (12). It is also used in the manufacture of nitrogen fluoride, NF, from ammonia (13). [Pg.178]

The breadth of reactions catalyzed by cobalt compounds is large. Some types of reactions are hydrotreating petroleum (qv), hydrogenation, dehydrogenation, hydrodenitrification, hydrodesulfurization, selective oxidations, ammonoxidations, complete oxidations, hydroformylations, polymerizations, selective decompositions, ammonia (qv) synthesis, and fluorocarbon synthesis (see Fluorine compounds, organic). [Pg.380]

A compound containing two or three unsaturated groups would be expected to polymerize to a cross-linked, solid, and nonlinear thermosetting polymer. Fluorinated compounds that have only one unsaturated group can be used in a mixture with our monomers to polymerize to a solid polymer of a thermoset nature and this is a convenient way to enhance the ease of processing. [Pg.178]

Figure 29 provides a comparison of the polymerization activities of Cp TiCl3 and Cp TiF3 at various temperatures and Al Ti ratios. At all temperatures investigated, the fluorinated compound is more active than the chlorinated one. Although an increase of the Al Ti ratio to 900 enhances the activity of Cp TiCT, the opposite is observed with Cp TiF3. The higher activity of the latter complex was found at a usefully low Al Ti ratio of 300. Table XIX provides a summary of the results. [Pg.146]

One consequence of high-power proton decoupling during observation of F spectra is that resonance frequencies will be affected by the Bloch-Siegert effect [11]. This has been thoroughly investigated by Vierkotter [12] for some nonpolymeric fluorinated compounds, and has been observed for polymeric systems [13]. The shift (expressed as a fraction) is given by ... [Pg.256]
