Polyetherketone modified

Because the components must initially form miscible solutions or swollen networks a degree of affinity between the reacting components is needed. Therefore, most of the investigations into epoxy IPNs have involved the use of partially miscible components such as thermoplastic urethanes (TPU) with polystyrenes [57], acrylates [58-61] or esters which form loose hydrogen-bound mixtures during fabrication [62-71 ]. Epoxy has also been modified with polyetherketones [72],polyether sulfones [5] and even polyetherimides [66] to help improve fracture behavior. These systems, due to immiscibility, tend to be polymer blends with distinct macromolecular phase morphologies and not molecularly mixed compounds. [Pg.113]

Adhesion studies of epoxy resins modified with high modulus and high glass transition temperature thermoplastics have shown adhesion can reach or even exceed that of the unmodified resin. The use of flexible polyamides or flexible epoxides resulted in shear strength increases in epoxy systems employed by Cunliffe et al. [144],polyethersulfones [18,145],polyetherimides [109,146,147], and polyetherketones [148-150]. [Pg.130]

BMI resins were modified with a wide range of other polymers in order to achieve improved properties. Toughened BMIs may be obtained by using polyetherketones (Han et al. 2009), while enhanced processing characteristics and low dielectric losses may be achieved for BMI by modification with allyl phenyl compounds, allyl epoxy resins, and epoxy acrylate resins (Liang et al. 2007). Flame retardancy was accomplished by modifying BMIs with fully end-capped hyperbranched polysilox-ane (Zhuo et al. 2011a). [Pg.237]

The incorporation of homogenous Ti(lV)/trialkanolamine catalyst in polymeric membranes has been investigated as heterogeneous catalysts for the selective oxidation of secondary amines to nitrones by alkyl hydroperoxides (Buonomeima et al., 2004, 2006). Three polymers, PVDF, a modified polyetherketone (PEEK-WC), and polyacrUo-nitrile (PAN) with different functional groups and chemical-physical properties were used to tune the reactivity of the catalytic polymeric membranes. [Pg.710]
