Weft-knitting

There are three basic types of weft knitting—plain, rib and purl.

Bibliographic/Technical. The principal databases in which bibhographic chemical information is stored are hsted in Table 1. Examples of the use of these databases include searching the CA file to find the pubhshed work of a certain author, or the World Textiles file to determine the extent of weft knitting machinery use in Europe. 

Microdenier nylon and polyester were a significant spinning breakthrough when demonstrated in 1985. The finer-than-silk fibers added a new dimension to fabric aesthetics, comfort, and performance. Microdenier nylons are used in weaving, warp knits, and weft knits for sports-, leisure-, and... 

Knitted fabric constmction characterization is discussed in ASTM D3887. Characterization of knitted fabrics includes yield (area per weight), width, length, and yam count (number of courses and wales per unit length). The type of knit is also specified, eg, warp knit or weft knit. Yarn analysis may be difficult on account of problems in raveling individual yams from the knitted stmcture, particularly warp knits. 

There are two types of knitting used in mbber product construction, i.e., warp knitting and weft knitting. 

In this method the looping yam runs transversely to the length of the fabric. Loops are formed on a row of needles and the next loops are caught in the hooks of the needles and then drawn through the first loops. The goods may be solvent scoured in rotary drum machine, restricting the load to 50% of the machine maximum capacity and the centrifuging time to 1 min to avoid the formation of pressure creases. Warp knitted fabrics are, in general, more stable to tension than weft knitted fabrics.

There are two types of knitted fabrics, both of which are important for sport apparel applications weft-knitted fabrics (Figure 5.3) and warp-knitted fabrics (Figure 5.4). 

In this chapter, we will address the class of sport garments made of weft-knitted fabrics as being more flexible in production change, comparatively small minimums in production quantities, possessing more extensive structural capabilities and also widely used in seam-free sportswear. 

Thus, all seamless garment weft-knitting machines could be divided into two classes circular body-width machines and flat V-bed machines.
