Poly tetraethylene glycol

The results of dT/dt and T measurements made during curing of two systems - macro(di-isocyanate) based on poly(tetraethylene glycol) and 2,4-toluylene diisocyanate cured by diamine (MDA) and epoxy diene oligomer cured by triethanol(amine titanate) are shown in Figs. 3.9 and 3.10, respectively. The monotonic increase in the parameters, monitored in the experiment,... [Pg.113]

The addition of a suitable amount of PC or a mixture of PC and EC to PEO-(LiX) does increase the room temperature conductivity of the electrolyte to >10" Scm but apparently with a significant reduction in its dimensional stability. This limitation, coming from the fact that PEO is soluble in PC or in a mixture of PC and EC, can be overcome with the use of polymers which are insoluble in the plasticizing solvents. Examples of such materials are the series of dimensionally stable polymer electrolyte films with conductivities of >10" Scm at room temperature we have prepared [33, 34]. A list of these electrolytes and their conductivities at 20°C is given in Table 3.7. They are obtained by immobilizing solutions of Li salts (i.e. Li salt-solvates) formed in a mixture of ethylene carbonate and propylene carbonate, in a polymer matrix such as poly(acrylonitrile), (PAN), poly[(tetraethylene glycol) diacrylate] (PEGDA), and poly(vinyl pyrrolidinone), (PVP). These polymers are insoluble in PC and EC/PC mixtures consequently, dimensionally stable... [Pg.97]

Tetraethylene glycol may be used direcdy as a plasticizer or modified by esterification with fatty acids to produce plasticizers (qv). Tetraethylene glycol is used directly to plasticize separation membranes, such as siHcone mbber, poly(vinyl acetate), and ceUulose triacetate. Ceramic materials utilize tetraethylene glycol as plasticizing agents in resistant refractory plastics and molded ceramics. It is also employed to improve the physical properties of cyanoacrylate and polyacrylonitrile adhesives, and is chemically modified to form polyisocyanate, polymethacrylate, and to contain siHcone compounds used for adhesives. [Pg.363]

Cy—oxo-derived acids are the principal derivatives of the C —oxo aldehydes, and ia analogy to oxo aldehyde market appHcations, are used chiedy to make neopolyol esters, ie, those based on neopentyl glycol, trimethylolpropane, or pentaerythritol. These synlubes are employed almost entirely ia aeromotive appHcations. Heptanoic acid is also employed to make tetraethylene glycol diheptanoate, a plasticizer used with poly(vinyl butyral). [Pg.473]

IPN s of 54/46 poly(methyl methacrylate)/poly(ethyl acrylate) were prepared by both the latex and bulk (10) routes. Both IPN s contained 0,4% (W/V) tetraethylene glycol dimethacrylate (TEGDM) crosslinking agent in each polymer. Samples of the latex IPN were film formed on glass petri dishes, All samples were vacuum dried at 60°C to constant weight. [Pg.311]

In the specific system examined, the poly(methyl methacrylate) contained 0.5% tetraethylene glycol dimethacrylate as a cross-linker, causing gelation after about 8% conversion, as indicated by the Gi-U-PU plane. The phase separation curve for the ternary system MMA-PMMA- U is indicated by the line C-D-A-E. The inset in Figure 13.20 shows the actual experimentally determined curve, with data points just behind the MMA-PMMA- U face of the tetrahedron. Similarly the phase separation curve for the... [Pg.719]

Because poly(vinylpyrrolidone) is a water-soluble polymer, cross-linked copolymers of this material imbibe water and swell. This fact has been applied to the possible preparation of contact lenses which are soft and flexible on contact with water or aqueous fluids not only by grafting appropriate monomers to preformed PVP but also by direct copolymerization of N-vinylpyrrolidone with other comonomers. For example, a cross-linked hydrogel was prepared by terpolymerizing A-vinylpyrrolidone, methyl acrylate, and tetraethylene glycol dimethacrylate in the presence of AIBN [44]. [Pg.270]
