Poly , reaction with fluorinated alcohols

Lewis base adducts of U(OCFl2CH3)5 have been prepared with acetonitrile, THF, pyridine, and SO2, " and adducts of U(OCFl2CF3)5 were prepared with a number of aliphatic amines (NMes, NPrFl2, NPr Fl2, NPr2Fl, NMc2H, ethylenimine). Later reports of the synthesis of poly-fluoroalkoxides ethanol adducts U[OC(CF3)3]4(OCF[2CF[3)(F[OCF[2CF[3), and U[OCH-(CF3)2]4(OCF[2CF[3XEIOCF[2CF[3) from the reaction between the respective fluorinated alcohol with U(0CF[2CF[3) " determined these complexes to be monomeric. 

Two series of new polyphosphazenes were prepared by derivatization of preformed poly(methylphenylphosphazene), [Me(Ph)PN]p. This Involved Initial deprotonatlon of part of the methyl substituents with n-BuLi followed by treatment of the intermediate anion with carbon dioxide or with fluorinated aldehydes or ketones. With appropriate workup procedures, either carboxylic acid, ester, carboxylate salt, or fluorinated alcohol derivatives were obtained. These reactions and the characterization of the products are discussed In this paper. Related derivatization reactions are also discussed. 

Olah and Li2 have prepared a solid form of this reagent by reaction of anhydrous HF with cross-linked poly-4-vinylpyridine. It is comparable to pyridinium poly (hydrogen fluoride) for hydrofluorination of alkenes and alkynes and fluorination of alcohols, but is easier to handle. Work-up of reactions requires only a simple filtration, and the spent reagent can be regenerated with HF for further use.
