Poly preparative procedure

The preparation of monodisperse hydrogel microspheres, such as poly-acrylam-ide-co-acrylic acid, poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-acrylic acid), has been performed for drug devices thanks to their biocompatibility [77, 79]. The average diameters of the microspheres were dependent on the pore sizes (from 0.33 to 1.70pm) of SPG membranes used in the preparation procedure. [Pg.490]

In consequent experiments, the authors (16) innovated the preparation procedure in order to improve the quality of prepared PMMA/ MWCNT particles they profitably used a steric stabilizer, poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) (48). PVP has both hydrophobic and hydrophilic... [Pg.236]

Materials. Poly(3-butenyltrimethylsilane sulfone) (PBTMSS) was synthesized by free-radical copolymerization of 3-butenyltrimethylsilane with liquid sulfur dioxide (molar ratio 1 9) initiated with azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) at 35X in a sealed glass ampoule. The detailed preparation procedure and properties of this copolymer have been reported elsewhere. (7 3)... [Pg.335]

The appropriate use of sample preparation procedures to expose the interior (bulk) of a blend of interest is in many cases required. In addition, selective solvent treatments may assist to unequivocally identify the different phase, as illustrated in Fig. 3.59 [133]. In this example, the polystyrene phase in a blend of polystyrene and poly (n-butyl methacrylate) was identified by selective removal of the PS using cyclohexane. Thus the protrusion seen in the height image in panel (a), which are attributed to PS domains, are no longer detectable in panel (b). [Pg.149]

Following a brief review of the development of dynamic membranes and an overview of the current state of the art, Spencer (10) discusses dynamic polyblend membranes. In particular, he looks at the Influence that polymer selection and membrane preparation procedures have on membrane performance. Dynamic membranes composed of a poly(acrylic acid)/basic polyamine blend deposited on a ZOSS (hydrous zirconium oxide on stainless steel) ultrafiltration membrane are discussed. Their hyperfiltration or reverse osmosis properties are compared to the more traditional ZOPA (zirconium oxide plus poly(acrylic acid)) membrane. [Pg.17]

In an earlier paper, we described the production and characterization of biodegradable microparticles containing tetracycline, which were designed for periodontal disease therapy. Microparticles were made by using different preparation procedures and different polyesters poly(L-lactide), poly(DL-lactide), and poly(DL-lactide-co-glycolide) 50 50. Selection of the appropriate preparation method and polyester enabled us to obtain biodegradable microparticles intended for sustained delivery of tetracycline to the periodontal pocket [23],... [Pg.17]

Lou et al. [46] analyzed poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT for brief). The authors used a two-step sample preparation procedure in which a layer of pure matrix is deposited first and the PBT sample is added afterwards. [Pg.1088]

The copolymer of methyl methacrylate-methacrylic acid (PMM/MA) was prepared by the partial hydrolysis of poly(methyl methacrylate) (Polysciences Inc., High M.VJ.) as described in the literature(13). a typical preparation procedure for PIIl l/ilA (MA content 4.1 mole %) is as follows Fine-Powdered Poly(methyl methacrylate)(40 g) was suspended in 350 ml of isopropanol in a 1 3-... [Pg.391]

PEM were extensively studied in the last decade [1, 4,15] but the knowledge about their structure and properties as a function of the preparation conditions or post preparation treatment still needs to be completed and systematized with precise studies on their stability and response to various external stimuli. The aim of the present work was to summarise data about film swelling and water uptake of PEM prepared from polyallylamine hydrochlo-ride/polysodium 4-styrenesulfonate (PAH/PSS) using different preparation procedures or post preparation treatment. A layer of highly branched poly(ethylene imine) (PEI) is often used as a first layer to anchor subsequent layers to the support material [1] when PEM are formed... [Pg.31]

It has been proposed that hybrid membranes are more proton conductive at low humidity than the parent polymer membranes. For example, zirconia phosphate (ZrP) was formed in the sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone). Nanoparticles of zirconia phosphate were homogeneously distributed in the membranes as crystalline ot-zirconium hydrogen phosphate hydrate [96]. The composite membrane (with ZrP up to 50 wt%) showed 3.7 x 10 S/cm of the proton conductivity at 90" C, 30% RH, which was ca. 5 times higher than that of the parent polymer membrane under the same conditions. It is claimed that the composite effect depends upon interfacial contact between the polymer matrix and additives, and inappropriate preparation procedure could result in opposite effects. [Pg.208]

Details are given under [17], also the preparation procedure of various poly-(acetylene) types. [Pg.751]

Preparation procedures of films and powders are given under [20], e.g. electrochemical production of poly(pyrrole)films discontinuously or continuously ... [Pg.757]
