Nitriles react with alcohols in the presence of hydrochloric acid to form iminoester hydrochlorides, which are hydrolyzed to the esters (Pinner synthesis). Heitz and coworkers [21-23] published several fine papers on the polyazoester synthesis from the reaction of a series of poly(oxyethylene) glycol or poly(oxypropylene) glycol and AIBN in the presence of dry hydrochloric acid at 0-5°C according to Pinner synthesis. Condensation reactions of ACPC and dihydroxy terminated poly(oxy-ethylene) glycol yield polyazoesters [24,25]. [Pg.728]

Structure-based nomenclature is also applicable to copolymers having a regular structure, regardless of the starting materials used [viz. poly (oxy ethylene-oxyterephthaloyl)]. In principle, it should be possible to extend the existing structure-based nomenclature beyond regular, single-strand polymers to polymers that have reacted, cross-linked polymers, ladder polymers, and other more complicated systems. [Pg.10]

Thus, -(-Q—CH2—CH2 would be poly (oxy ethylene) rather than-fCHjCHj—O -poly(ethylene oxy). If there is a substituent on part of the CRU, then orientation will place the substituent closest to the left of the substituted portion, thus, poly(oxy 1-methyl ethylene) ... [Pg.511]

In the most of these polymers the polyaciylate or polymetaciylate main chain is present with a number of side chains. The poly-oxy-ethylene, poly-oxy-propyl-ene, as well as the poly-ether and ether-ester mers or their mix occurs mainly as the side chains (Figs. 6.95 and 6.96). These side chains are plotted as perpendicular to... [Pg.500]

Therefore, measurements of the rate of thread self-thinning dal(adt) reveal the value of the effective viscosity of liquid /i. The results of such experiments with dilute polymer solution jets and threads [118-120] revealed the values of the effective viscosity that are larger than the solvent viscosity or the shear viscosity of the same solution by 3-4 orders of magnitude. For example, for dilute 0.02 wt% aqueous solution of poly(oxy ethylene) WSR-301, the elongational viscosity was found to be fi i = 7 Pa s, whereas its shear viscosity was = 3 x 10 Pa s. This approach resulted in the development of a new type of an elongational rheometer for dilute polymer solutions [118-122]. [Pg.44]

As the release resin, poly(vinyl butyral) or cellulose acetate butyrate is used. As surfactants, a silicone-based surfactant, a poly(oxy-ethylene)-based surfactant or an acetylenediol-based surfactant can be used (34). [Pg.137]

A carboxyl-terminated unsaturated polyester was esterified with poly(oxy-ethylene) diols [70]. Using poly(oxyethylene) diol with a munber average molecular weight of 2000, partly crystalline block copolymers were obtained. The unsaturated block copolyether ester contained predominantly one terminal polyether group per molecule. Block unsaturated copolyetheresters with shorter poly(oxyethylene) terminal groups of M = 350 and 550 were also obtained. The effect of the composition of those UPRs on the mechanical and thermal properties was investigated [70]. The block copolyetherester with Mn = 2000 can be dissolved in styrene monomer, thus forming a UPR with acceptable viscosity at as little as 20% styrene. [Pg.35]
