Pollutant Parameter Influent Concentration (mg/L) Effluent Concentration (mg/L)... [Pg.283]

Pollutant parameters found in the common metals subcategory raw waste stream from sampled plants are shown in Table 9.4. The major constituents shown are parameters, which originate in process solutions (such as from plating or galvanizing) and enter wastewaters by drag-out to rinses. These metals appear in waste streams in widely varying concentrations. [Pg.350]

Table 9.5 shows the concentrations of pollutant parameters found in the precious metals subcategory raw waste streams. The major constituents are silver and gold, which are much more commonly used in metal finishing industry operations than palladium and rhodium. Because of their high cost, precious metals are of special interest to metal finishers. [Pg.352]

Pollutant parameters and their concentrations found in the oily waste subcategory streams are shown in Table 9.9. The oily waste subcategory for the metal finishing industry is characterized by both concentrated and dilute oily waste streams that consist of a mixture of free oils, emulsified oils, greases, and other assorted organics. Applicable treatment of oily waste streams is dependent on the concentration levels of the wastes, but oily wastes normally receive specific treatment for oil removal prior to solids removal waste treatment. [Pg.354]

Regulated Pollutant Parameters for Kraft Pulp Facilities... [Pg.888]

Ross et al (11) in monitoring run-off quality for a range of pollution parameters from grass and cultivated contour plots which had received cow slurry to the surface or injected, found that injection essentially eliminated any pollutant yield in the run-ofiF. [Pg.216]

Produced water is typically saline. A great deal of data exist regarding the quality of the inorganic components of the produced water [8]. Table 2 is a summary of this information. To date very little information has been published regarding the concentration of the traditional pollutant parameters in the produced water. Table 3 presents the ranges of various water quality... [Pg.254]

Over the last decade, much interest has been generated in monitoring environmental problems and associated risks of wastes, in particular, wastewaters generated by the pulp and paper industries. A major goal is to reassess the target pollutant levels and consider the use of risk-based discharge permit values rather than the absolute endpoint values. This risk-based approach requires analytical tools that can quantify the ecotoxic characteristics of discharges rather than the absolute concentration of specihc pollutants or the values of lumped pollution parameters such as BOD, COD, and so on. [Pg.492]

As a result of the numerous potential sources of wastewater from equipment drainage and leakage throughout a steam electric facility, the pollutants encountered in such wastewaters may be diverse. There have been little data reported for these waste streams however, the pollutant parameters that may be of concern are oil and grease, pH, and suspended solids. [Pg.602]

In the present study, two ANN methods - the FFBP with the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm and the radial basis functions (RBF) - were employed to estimate the air pollution parameters measured at a station in Istanbul on chosen episode days, with the focus on the particulate matter. The results were compared with those obtained with the multi-linear regression (MLR) method. [Pg.423]

Emission factors are unique to the air pollution field. They are usually based on stack emission test data for a specific process and are presented as a ratio of two flow rates. The numerator is the mass flow rate of the air pollutant parameter and the denominator is the flow rate of the process or manufactured product. In the spraypainting of automobiles, for example, the carrier solvent in the paint (VOC) is released to the atmosphere as the paint is dried in an oven. A stack test quantifies the amount of paint VOC released during the painting of some quantity of autos. The resulting VOC emission factor would be Ib-VOC/hr divided by of autos/hr painted. Note that the hour (hr) unit cancels and the emission factor is expressed as Ib-VOC/ autos. [Pg.597]
