Plastics domestic sales

APEs play an important role in a nnmber of indnstrial processes—pulp and paper, textiles, coatings, agricnltnral pesticides, lube oils and fnels, and metals and plastics. APEs are the most effective compounds in nonionic surfactants for indnstrial, institntional, and commercial cleaning products. In 1990 alone, more than 450 million ponnds of APE snrfactants were produced in the United States for domestic sale. Industrial applications consists of indnstrial and institutional cleaning products (30%), household cleaning prodncts (15%), and other nses (<1%). [Pg.66]

Estimates of the use of PCB for various industrial applications in the USA have been derived by Peakall and Lincer (1970) from the domestic sales figures released by Monsanto for the period 1957-1972 (Table 9.4). In 1960, about 11,300 metric tons of Aroclor were used in transformers and capacitors and about 29% of the total on other uses as plasticizers and in hydraulic fluids. In 1970, the latter fraction increased to about 45%. After voluntary restrictions by Monsanto, this figure dropped to 23% and total PCB sales dropped to 18.4 metric tons (Table 9.3). [Pg.171]

DSM America produces caprolactam only for merchant sales, both domestic and foreign. BASF is a customer, foUowiag acquisition of Enka s United States fiber and plastics plants, and also a captive producer of caprolactam. AUied-Signal s production is primarily captive for nylon-6 fibers and plastics, but substantial amounts are supplied to the export market. [Pg.431]

General Facts and Figures of the U.S. Plastics Industry (1990 edition), published annually. Features data on resin production, sales, markets, and capacity utilization rates for plastics resins and domestic consumer patterns. The 1990 edition has 129 pages. [Pg.350]

I believe the computer and computerized techniques will come into prominence as a sales aid in the 70 s—with its proper application being, for example, to advise when to and when not to sell direct and which areas to emphasize. Utilization of computer-generated data by competition will prove a strong challenge to the domestic plastics sales organization in the 70,s. Skilled programming of computers can provide in short time periods your complete costs of solicitation in one area vs. another, which are the most profitable areas, which are the least profitable, and what variable can influence each of these. [Pg.77]

The demand for additives naturally reflects the demand for plastics. Demand for plastics depends in turn on the sale of manufactured goods such as construction products, vehicles, domestic appliances, business machines, televisions, packaging, toys, shoes etc. There are also secondary factors promoting an increased usage of additives in every tonne of polymer. [Pg.9]
