Anistreplase (anisoylated plasminogen streptokinase activator complex APSAC) consists of a complex of purified human plasminogen and bacterial streptokinase that has been acylated to protect the enzyme s active site. When administered, the acyl group spontaneously hydrolyzes, freeing the activated streptokinase-proactivator complex. This product (recently discontinued in the USA) allows for rapid intravenous injection, greater clot selectivity (ie, more activity on plasminogen associated with clots than on free plasminogen in the blood), and more thrombolytic activity. [Pg.766]

Streptokinase is the oldest available fibrinolytic. By itself it lacks enzymatic activity only after binding to a plasminogen molecule is a complex formed that activates plasminogen. Streptokinase is produced by streptococcal bacteria. Streptokinase antibodies may be present as a result of previous streptococcal infections and may lead to incompatibility reactions. [Pg.150]

Anistreplase (anisoylated plasminogen streptokinase activator complex, APSAC), is the plasminogen-streptokinase complex (above) in which the enzyme centre that converts plasminogen to plasmin is protected from deactivation, so prolonging its action. [Pg.578]

Human tissue plasminogen activator, purified, glycosylated, 527 residues purified from CHO cells. Eminase is a lyophilized formulation of anistreplase, the p-anisoyl derivative of the primary Lys-plasminogen-streptokinase activator complex (a complex of Lys-plasminogen and streptokinase). A p-anisoyl group is chemically conjugated to a complex of bacterial-derived streptokinase and human plasma-derived Lys-plasminogen proteins. [Pg.725]

Commonly used thrombolytics are streptokinase, urokinase, tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA, Alteplase), anisoylated plasminogen streptokinase activator complex (APSAC, Anistreplase), and reteplase (Retavase). [Pg.390]
