Pellitorine (1) has been isolated from several plants fruits of Piper sarmentosum [7], roots of Anacyclus pyrethrum [8] and seeds of Piper sylvaticum and presents insecticidal activity [10]. The Z-isomer (2), isolated from Piper guineense [11], has similar activity. Another component of the dried fruits of Piper sarmentosum, known in Thailand as Cha-plu , is sarmentine (3) which is used as an expectorant [7]. The corresponding piperidine derivative (4) is an Achillea amide [12]. 

The dienamides (5) [13] and (7) [14] have been isolated from Leucocyclus formosus and the tetradecadienoylpyrrolidine (8) and piperidine (9) have been found in Achillea arten [14] and Otanthus maritimus [15] respectively. The isobutylamides (10-12) have been extracted from the fruits of Piper guineense collected in the western parts of Nigeria [16]. Trichonine (13) and compounds (12) and (16) have the longest dienamide chains isolated so far and they are found in Piper trichostachyon leaves [17].

Other GC-0 applications are also reported in literature using the so-called peak-to-odor impression correlation, the method in which the olfactive quality of an odor-active compound perceived by a panelist is described. The odor-active compounds of the essential oils of black pepper Piper nigrurri) and Ashanti pepper Piper guineense) were assessed applying the aforecited correlation method [78]. The odor pro le of the essential oils of leaves and owers of Hyptis pectinata (L.) Poit. was also investigated by using the peak-to-odor impression correlation [79].
