Phosphocreatine in muscle

Oxandrolone was often refereed to as an all purpose oral AAS. This drug was once marketed under the product name (still commonly used trade name) of Anavar. It has the unique quality of significantly stimulating (more than other AAS) the synthesis of phosphocreatine in muscle cells which in turn provides faster regeneration of, and a distinct elevation in, ATP. Of course all AAS have this effect to some extent. Oxandrolone is simply unmatched in this aspect. [Pg.28]

A nitrogenous compound formed in the liver, which is converted to phosphocreatine in muscle, where it serves as a source of high energy phosphate for muscle contraction. Greater than normal amounts of creatine are excreted in the urine when muscle disorders and other abnormal conditions are present. In muscular dystrophy, the muscle is unable to accept creatine, and it is excret in the urine. [Pg.249]

The amount of urinary creatinine excreted in 24 hours divided by the body weight in kilograms. Creatinine is formed from phosphocreatine in muscle and is excreted in fairly constant amounts each day. Hence, the amount of urinary creatinine which is excreted under uniform conditions may be taken as an indication of the total muscle mass. [Pg.249]

Urinary DiAcSpm levels are approximately 1.5 fold higher in females than in males, most hkely because creatinine levels are lower in females. Urinary creatinine is primarily derived from creatine and phosphocreatine in muscle tissue, and on average females have lower muscle mass than males. Moreover, in females, urinary DiAcSpm levels vary during the menstrual cycle, increasing before the onset of menstruation and decreasing after the end of menstruation (Hiramatsu et al. 2013). [Pg.307]
