Esterifying the 2-hydroxy function with palmitoyl chloride gave the insoluble—and tasteless—plamitate as a pro-drug used in pediatric suspension. Ready in vivo hydrolysis of the ester released the active drug following rapid absorption. Injectable dosage forms contain the soluble clindamycin-2-phosphate so does a topical solution and gel. 

Solutions are used topieally as well as internally. Examples of eompounded liquids include topicals (wart solutions), oral syrups and elixirs, nasal solutions, otic solutions, iontophoretic solutions (dexamethasone sodium phosphate), and many others (Table 5). 

Antazoline is less active than most of the other anlihisla-minic drugs, but it is characterized by the lack of local irritation.
