Mercury, phenyl

Cacchi and Palmier (83T3373) investigated a new entry into the quinoline skeleton by palladium-catalyzed Michael-type reactions. They found that phenyl mercurial 134 was a useful intermediate for the synthesis of quinoline derivatives, and that by selecting the reaction conditions the oxidation level of the heterocyclic ring in the quinoline skeleton can be varied. On such example is shown in Scheme 16. PdCla-catalyzed coupling between organomercurial reagent 134 and enone 135 delivered adduct 136 which was subsequently cyclized to quinoline 137 under acidic conditions. [Pg.22]

The dihalocarbene method was expanded in scope and improved in yield by the introduction of carbenoids of several types. Thus, (dichloro-bromomethyl) phenyl mercury reacted with diaryl acetylenes giving diaryl cyclopropenones in high yields (60—... [Pg.13]

Several uses have been suggested for levulinic acid and its salts. Thus, calcium levulinate seems to have advantages as a calcium carrier in tuberculosis therapy, and it is said to be more suitable than calcium gluconate for intravenous injection. A mercury salt, phenyl mercury... [Pg.311]

Heating organomercurial 34 resulted in the a-ehmination of phenyl mercury bromide, generating dichlorocarbene, followed by addition of benzaldehyde to form the corresponding carbonyl ylide 35. This ylide can be intercepted with dimethyl-acetylene dicarboxylate (DMAD) to produce dihydrofuran (36), which formed furan 37 through a dehydrochlorination process in 46% yield. [Pg.259]

The crystal structures of methyl- and phenyl-mercury(II) dithizonates have been determined as part of a study on the photochroism of such compounds.149 In both structures the chelate is planar, with an irregular three-coordination at the metal including N and S of the ligand. The article provides a short structural review of dithizone complexes. [Pg.804]

The observation that phenyl(trichloromethyl)mercury undergoes dissociation at 150 °C to give phenyl-mercury(II) chloride and dichlorocarbene has led to a wide range of organomercury compounds (PhHgCX3 — Seyferth reagents)15-18 which serve as efficient dihalocarbene transfer reagents (equation... [Pg.1000]

Aryl mercury halides can also be used for the arylation of aryl tellurium halides, as exemplified by the synthesis of 2-naphthyl phenyl tellurium using phenyl mercury(II) chloride in dioxane1. [Pg.418]

Bis[2-(2 -pyridyl)phenyl] tellurium dibromide prepared from 2-(2 -pyridyl)phenyl tellurium tribromide and 2-(2 -pyridyl)phenyl mercury chloride was isolated as the 1 1 adduct (m.p. 235-238°) with mercury bromide chloride1. [Pg.569]

A number of phenols, especially chlorinated phenols and certain metal-organic compounds, such as copper naphthenate and phenyl mercury oleate, are effective preservatives. Pentachlorophenol and copper naphthenate are most commonly used, and are carried into the wood in 1-5 percent solutions in petroleum oil. Pentachlorophenol is colorless, and can be applied in clear volatile mineral oils to mill-work and window sash requiring a clean, nonswelling, and paintable treatment. [Pg.1269]

It is most conveniently stored in glass ampuls. Several other preparations for this compound are known including reactions of dihydroxy(phenyl)borane and boron trichloride12 13 or phosphorus pentachloride,14 2,4,6-triphenylboroxin, [C6H5BO]3, with phosphorus pentachloride,14 phenyl mercury chloride with boron trichloride,15 and benzene with boron trichloride.16... [Pg.37]

The thiols in the native enzyme are remarkable unreactive except with mercurials 150, 164) and with cupric ion 164, 1S6, 165). Two thiols react rapidly with phenyl mercuric acetate and 2 more slowly. Reduction of mercurial treated enzyme (after removal of excess reagent) by NADH results in the migration of phenyl mercury to the nascent thiols of the active center 160). [Pg.122]
