Employee pharmacists must make many decisions regarding financial management. Among the most important is the specific types and extent of benefits provided by the employer. Benefits often amount to an additional 30 percent of an employee s salary and include such things as health, life, and disability insurance and retirement planning issues such as 401(k) contributions and defined pension benefits.

The Agency comprises almost 600 persons of which two thirds eire medics, pharmacists, scientists and technicians. Collaborative drug therapy management, characterized by an interdisciplinary approach to patient care, is emerging as a solution that can maximize the patient s health-related quality of life, reduce the frequency of avoidable drug-related problems, and improve societal benefits from pharmaceuticals. In this approach to care, drug therapy decision making and management are coordinated collaboratively by pharmacists, physicians, other health care professionals, and the patient. 

The NLM has brought about important changes to pharmacy practice and research. By searching MEDLINE and its other databases, pharmacists, pharmacy researchers, and pharmacy students can find answers to clinical questions, seek help in decision making, obtain information to support research, expand their knowledge on a certain drug topic, and explore and obtain available data to prepare educational tools for colleagues, students, patients, and consumers. 

Documentation is the primary method to demonstrate value within an organized health care system. More importantly, it is the accepted method by which health care providers communicate with one another with respect to patient care decision making and clinical outcomes. Thus, if pharmacists in all practice settings are not communicating data/information routinely with other providers, they may not be considered an essential and integral part of the health care team.
