Personal protection programme

Instructions and training should be given to the wearer to prevent unhygienic use of the gloves, and as mentioned earlier in this chapter, gloves should be included in the personal protection programme. 

Biological larvicides have been introduced for malaria and dengue control in many countries. Locally manufactured biological larvicides are available. Personal protection measures have been promoted by control programmes, including the use of insect repellents, mosquito coils, mats and aerosols. Household pesticide use is increasing in India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

While such doses would no longer be acceptable, the adequacy of the current radiation level limits, in terms of radiological safety, has been confirmed by a number of surveys where radiation exposure of transport workers has been determined [29-32] and by an assessment performed by the IAEA in 1985 [33]. Table 2, although based on limited samples, reflects differences between the major causes of accidents in Canada and those in Britain. While it would appear that Canada has a better record regarding the use of personal protective equipment, Britain enjoys a better record relating to access structures.
