An environmental health rapid assessment tool for use by EHOs accessing affecting sites immediately postcyclone divides assessment into key themes of drinking water, sewerage, waste, asbestos, food safety, personal hygiene, vectors, and chemical hazards. The tool has a section for EHOs for prioritizing environmental health issues and priorities in line with the key themes. [Pg.288]

Abstract— Pressure ulcer is primarily a biomechanical issue, although the cascade of clinical events often involves many confounding intrinsic and extrinsic factors, such as the general health condition and the personal hygiene of the subject involved. Decades of research have clarified some mechanisms leading to pressure ulcers, though considerable controversies still remain. A number of hypotheses have been proposed for the biomechanics of pressure ulcer in past decades - a) direct... [Pg.8]

Airborne solvent concentrations usually vary much with time. Although repeated random personal sampling is theoretically the optimal method for inhalation exposure assessment, it is very time-consuming and does not necessarily reveal the reasons for exposure. Often, occupational hygiene surveys are conducted only to make certain that the concentrations of air impurities are in compliance with flic OELs. Also, the European standard (EN 689/95) for occupational exposure assessment is primarily issued for this purpose. It would, however, be practical if the measurements conducted would also provide useful information for planning of remedial measures if flic measurements reveal those to be necessary. For this purpose, it is important to recognize flic difference between manual tasks and process industries. [Pg.1254]

Where possible all processes in which dust or fume is generated are enclosed and vented to the outside. Where this is not possible the workplace atmosphere is forcibly extracted to provide ample ventilation and to keep lead-in-air to acceptable levels. In areas where industrial hygiene standards are liable to be exceeded, personal respirators are issued to workers to provide a constant supply of uncontaminated air for breathing. Deposited dusts are frequently removed. [Pg.102]
