Performance and Accuracy

Indicators can determine if uniform steam penetration has been achieved during a Bowie Dick-type test. Produced in the form of sheets (23 X 30 cm), chemical indicators are capable of uniform color change over their entire surface when exposed to pure saturated steam under test conditions. Nonuniform color development is an indication of failure of the test. U.S. and international stands for the performance and accuracy of chemical indicators have been pubHshed (13,14). [Pg.408]

For field-oriented controls, a mathematical model of the machine is developed in terms of rotating field to represent its operating parameters such as /V 4, 7, and 0 and all parameters that can inlluence the performance of the machine. The actual operating quantities arc then computed in terms of rotating field and corrected to the required level through open- or closed-loop control schemes to achieve very precise speed control. To make the model similar to that lor a d.c. machine, equation (6.2) is further resolved into two components, one direct axis and the other quadrature axis, as di.sciis.sed later. Now it is possible to monitor and vary these components individually, as with a d.c. machine. With this phasor control we can now achieve a high dynamic performance and accuracy of speed control in an a.c. machine, similar to a separately excited d.c. machine. A d.c. machine provides extremely accurate speed control due to the independent controls of its field and armature currents. [Pg.106]

With the availability of phasor control technology, by which one can separate out the active and magnetizing components of the motor s stator current and vary them individually, it is now possible to achieve higher dynamic performance and accuracy of speed control in an a.c. machine similar to and even better than a separately excited d.c. machine. [Pg.134]

The 1960s witnessed significant progress in the performance and accuracy of the apparatus. The versatility of the equipment increased as new detectors and auxiliary equipment were developed. [Pg.290]

To improve performance and accuracy, some suppliers offer flowmeters with two, four, or more pairs of transducers arranged to interrogate multiple acoustic paths. The accuracy of multipath flowmeters is improved, and for that reason they are widely used in custody transfer of natural gas. [Pg.435]

Performance and accuracy of the loop is verbally acknowledged between maintenance and operations... [Pg.246]

If you can assimilate the procedure discussed above and make it a part of yourself—so that you do not have to think about it step by step—you will find that you will be able to materially improve your speed, performance, and accuracy in problem solving. Novice prospective engineers usually have the most difficulty with ... [Pg.62]

Theoretical predictions are risky. Therefore for almost all such prediction experimental validation is required. Nevertheless, often the models can indicate appropriate ways for validation or further experiments. These experiments can be expected to be time-consuming, and expensive. Furthermore, the protein actually needs to be available for the suggested experiments. All of this limits the applicability of experimental validation. Therefore, it is mandatory to reduce errors as much as possible and to indicate the expected error range via computer-based predictions. This is not a trivial problem for structure prediction, though. An estimation of the performance and accuracy of the respective methods can be obtained from large scale comparative benchmarking, from successful blind predictions and from a community wide assessment experiment (CASP [109, 229]/ CAFASP [283]). These are addressed in turn in the following ... [Pg.302]

In general, the VS on PRMTl was successful. Both the selected compounds identified as virtual hits and the randomly selected NCI compounds predicted to be inactive were correctly classified. Of course, the limited number of compounds tested cannot be used to make a final judgment of the performance and accuracy of the applied VS approach. However, from the point of view of a medicinal chemist, it is more important to obtain biologically active compounds or ideas for further analogues out of a VS campaign than producing overfitted models based on retrospecitve studies. [Pg.422]

MONK 6 represents a significant advance over previously available versions of this c e, and both performance and accuracy have been improved. Continuation of the present U.K. development program is foreseen to yield further enlargement of the range of code user options, and to provide further improvements in the predictions of reactivity for certain fissUe material combinations. [Pg.778]

Several versions of the instrument originally designed in the Laboratory of Prof. Wood (the University of Delaware) in the early 1980s were developed during the following decades to extend this technique to 430 °C and 40 MPa, to improve the performance and accuracy of the calorimeter and to simplify and speed up the measurements (BiggerstafF and Wood, 1988 Carter and Wood, 1991 Hnedkovsky et al., 2002). [Pg.274]

To check the performance and accuracy of the potassium microelectrode serial readings were made in the K calibrating standards. This yielded a mean ratio of potentiometric / photometric K concentration of 1.01 0.02 (S.E.), a ratio which is not significantly different from unity. In addition the performance of the potassium microelectrode was tested in Necturus and rat serum. The concentration was measured in Necturus and rat serum droplets in vitvo... [Pg.115]

We saw that the equations of motion can be formulated as an index-3 system by using constraints on position level. By using constraints on velocity or A level the equations are obtained in index-2 or index-1 form, respectively. The scheme (5.2.1) is formally applicable to each of these formulations though there are significant differences in performance and accuracy. First, we will demonstrate this by integrating the mathematical pendulum formulated in Cartesian coordinates as DAE. [Pg.150]

The aim of the proposed scheme is evaluate the performance and accuracy of the system in breast cancer detection. The proposed framework was applied to a population of breast DCE-MRI data from 58 patients. Each set of MRI consisted of 864 slices. The slice size is 448 x 448 pixels (32cm x 32cm). Besides, the patients MRI data are independently certified by two radiologists in Malacca General Hospital. All the slices are acquired by using T1 protocol with echo time 1.65 seconds. [Pg.676]

The present overview is intended to give a brief introduction into CC theory, thereby focusing more on the needs of a computational chemist than on formal aspects. The basic theory of single-reference CC theory is presented together with a discussion of the computationally feasible approaches. Other important topics covered in the following are the treatment of high-spin open-shell systems, the calculation of molecular properties and the description of excited states within standard CC theory. Despite the necessarily brief presentation, emphasis will be laid on adequate discussion of recent developments in order to keep the reader informed about current research. All topics are supplemented by numerical examples which illustrate the performance and accuracy of the CC methods. [Pg.616]

The overall performance and accuracy of the system must be checked regularly. This is commonly be done by alcohol combustion [14] or injection of a well-known mixture of nitrogen and carbon dioxide [13,30]. Both techniques have... [Pg.526]

The advantages of such an approach are many. First, it allows us to build up experience about the performance and accuracy of each level of approximation. This accumulated experience makes it possible to assess the usefulness, quality and reliability of a given calculation. By exploring different levels of theory, it becomes possible to extrapolate the results towards the exact solution and to make estimates of errors. Also, the use of well-established levels of theory makes the calculations and their results reproducible and unambiguous. [Pg.142]
