Pendulum hardness

For the above polyol blend viscosity (Brookfield, ASTM D-2196) = 1500 mPa-S at 23° C. For the reaction mixture working (pot) life 20 min Gardner circular dry times [72°F, 54% relative humidity (RH)] surface dry = 1.0 h, hard dry = 2.0 h, mar free = 3.5 h. For the finished coating gloss (ASTM D-523) = 90+ at 60° impact (ASTM D-2794) = 60 in.-lb direct, 10 in.-lb reverse Tabor abrasion (ASTMD-4060,1000 g load, 1000cycles, CS-17 wheel) = 95.6 mg pendulum hardness = 180 s MEK double rubs (ASTM D4752-95, 50 double rubs) = softened. [Pg.253]

Oven testing was performed using 0.4 g of a selected polymer sample that were dissolved in screening formulation (20.00 g) and then applied to white coil-coat aluminum and baked in an oven at 160°C for 30 minutes and a tack free dry film with a thickness of approximately 25 cm obtained. After curing for 45 minutes, the pendulum hardness testing was conducted and results summarized in Table 3. [Pg.320]

The measurements of the pendulum hardness confirm further the necessity of a fmal thermal activation step. While irradiated, samples may exhibit up to 180 s pendulum hardness upon standing for 24 hours at 20 °C the same irradiated samples show a pendulum hardness of 220 s if heated at 110 °C for 3 min. immediately after irradiation (Method of determination according to Konig.)... [Pg.69]

Pendulum hardness (Koenig) was measured on 1 mil (25,4 um) coatings applied to gray primed aluminum panels. All panels were exposed to 5 passes at 200 f/m under the Fusion H bulb. Dark substrates have been utilized to minimize reflection. [Pg.30]

CORRELATION OF PIA CALCULATIONS WITH CURING RESULTS. Table III shows the results of testing five concentrations of CGI-369 for scratch resistance and pendulum hardness in coatings cured under the Fusion H bulb. These test results are plotted in Figure 5. Both surface cure (scratch resistance) and through cure (pendulum hardness) were found to plateau at the higher concentrations of CGI-369 tested. [Pg.34]

The pendulum hardness is used to test painted steel surfaces. For this method, a duroscope is used. Here, a small hammer similar to a pendulum is made to fall on the sample. There are also many other standard test methods for pendulum hardness tests. [Pg.457]
