Coordination Number. Most common coordination numbers for tetravalent compounds are (with typical geometries in parentheses) 4 (tetrahedral), 5 (trigonal bipyramidal), 6 (octahedral). The coordination chemistry of lead closely resembles that of tin. [Pg.41]

Availability. Common starting materials are PbCb, Pb(0Ac)2 3H20 and lead metal which are all freely available at low cost. [Pg.41]

Because of their toxicity, all organolead compounds should be handled in well-ventilated fume-hoods. Workers should wear rubber gloves. Residues should not be thrown down sinks. [Pg.41]

Organolead compounds are best stored under an inert atmosphere at 0 . Many are light-sensitive.
