Two different access routes are used, whether the leaving group is carried on thiazolium derivatives such as anilinovinyl (method A), acetanilidovinyl (method B), formyl methylene, or thioformylmethylene or on the ketomethylene compound (method C). The use of acid anhydride together with pyridine has been patented (method E). 

Ghlorohydrination with Nonaqueous Hypochlorous Acid. Because the presence of chloride ions has been shown to promote the formation of the dichloro by-product, it is desirable to perform the chlorohydrination in the absence of chloride ion. For this reason, methods have been reported to produce hypochlorous acid solutions free of chloride ions. A patented method (48) involves the extraction of hypochlorous acid with solvents such as methyl ethyl ketone [78-93-3J, acetonitrile, and ethyl acetate [141-78-6J. In one example hypochlorous acid was extracted from an aqueous brine with methyl ethyl ketone in a 98.9% yield based on the chlorine used. However, when propylene reacted with a 1 Af solution of hypochlorous acid in either methyl ethyl ketone or ethyl acetate, chlorohydrin yields of only 60—70% were obtained (10). 

A similar type of open-loop control response is combined with closed-loop control in a patented method of surge protection. In this control method an open-loop control response is added before surge occurs. 

All other approaches try and relate the child spectra to the parent spectra. In the patented method of Shenk and Westerhaus [41 Sh], in its simplest form, one first applies a wavelength correction and then a correction for the absorbance. Each wavelength channel i of the parent instrument is linked to a nearby wavelength channel j(i) in the child instrument, namely the one to which it is maximally correlated. In solution the cis isomer always has an axial, equatorial arrangement in the chair conformation, while the trans isomer can exist as the diequatorial or diaxial chair conformers. It is not reported which of these is favoured or how the guest packs in the canals. 

In the late 1960 s Hercules water-gel explosives were being used nationwide in bulk operations and packaged products. Slurrex was a Hercules patented method of gasifying water gels to produce improved performance due to increased sensitivity and energy output...

The growing use of trialkylgallium and -indium compounds in the synthesis of semiconductors has led to the issuance of patented methods for their preparation from metal-magnesium alloys and alkyl halides (68-71). Other such preparations are likely to appear as the need for alkylmetal compounds increases. 

Pariza and Yang (123) have recently described the microbial production of 9,1 l-c,t-CLA from linoleic acid using cultures of Lactobacillus sp. In their patented method, early stationary phase Lactobacillus cultures were incubated with linoleic acid dissolved in propylene glycol. A total CLA level of 7 mg/g cells was produced, which was over 96% 9,ll-c,t-CLA. This type of conversion may lead to improved CLA products in the future.
