Partial admission

The efficiency of expansion turbines (partial admission axial, full admission axial, and radial inflow turbines) is a function of the following four basic parameters. [Pg.36]

For the preliminary estimate of the expected efficiency of expansion turbines, in most cases it is sufficient to neglect Reynolds number effects (Rg > 10 ) and use the efficiency and specific speed correlations shown in Figure 2-12 for partial admission axial impulse, reaction radial inflow and full admission impulse and reaction axial turbines. Due to the economic advantage of the radial turbine, die radial inflow turbine is die best selection when operating in die specific speed range 20 < Nj < 140, whereby die optimum efficiency will be achieved at N, = 80. [Pg.36]

Because high-pressure ratio requirements coincide in most cases with low specific speed designs, only partial admission axial or radial inflow turbines are seriously considered. [Pg.37]

Adjusting the stator blades leads to full are admission at all operating eonditions, and blade exeitations due to partial admission are thereby avoided. On well-designed hot gas expanders the adjusting meehanism is generally loeated between the blade earrier and outer... [Pg.112]

Laboratory Chemical Disposal Co. Ltd., confidential information, 1968 During vacuum fractionation of the mixed dichlorophenols produced by partial hydrolysis of trichlorobenzene, rapid admission of air to the receiver caused the column contents to be forced down into the boiler at 210°C, and a violent explosion ensued. [Pg.703]

In this region the vrater vapor pressure exceeds the admissible partial pressure at the inlet. The gas ballast pump must, therefore, have a condenser inserted at the inlet, which is so rated that the water vapor partial pressure at the inlet port of the rotary pump does not exceed the admissible value. The correct dimensions of the condenser are selected depending on the quantity of water vapor involved. For further details, see... [Pg.63]

For example, one of the technical characteristics that might be specihed is the effectiveness of the vaccine in giving protection over a period of, say, two years. Suppose a vaccine is developed such that only 50% of the people vaccinated appear to obtain protection. This can raise two problems. If the partially effective vaccine is determined inadmissible to be paid under the Advanced Purchase Commitment plan, despite bringing immense health benehts to millions of people, the innovator is not adequately compensated. But, if it is deemed admissible (perhaps only for a scaled reward), the Advanced Purchase Commitment funding could be used up in a short time, so that a second, 100% effective vaccine expected to arrive two years later might obtain no Advanced Purchase Commitment subsidy at all. [Pg.81]

Alternative oxidants such as potassium iodate were also explored for the intrazeolite polymerization of aniline in NaY and acidic forms of Y zeolite. With peroxydisulfate, the polymerization proceeded only if a sufficient supply of intrazeolite protons was available. No polymer formed in either NaY or in acid zeolites with neutral iodate solution, but at low pH polyaniline was obtained in all hosts. The open nature of the zeolite host, even when partially filled with polymer, permits the introduction of base (such as ammonia). On admission of ammonia into the emeraldine salt-containing zeolite, the protonated polymer was converted into the neutral emeraldine base form. [Pg.311]

The texts, tables and other illustrations taken from medical review or scientific works must be reproduced faithfully and in full, with the exact indication of the source. No citations are admissible that can appear partial and/or contradictory with respect to the author s intentions when separated from the context in which they originally appeared. [Pg.41]

The spectra of CO adsorption at RT on DPNi are reported on Fig. 4. After admission of 1 Torr of CO, the IR bands assignable to subcarbonyl (2080 cm" ), linear monocarbonyl (2040 cm" ) and bridged carbonyl (1960 cm" ) species are observed (Fig. 4a) [7,17]. The band positions differ to some extent from those obtained by in situ DWFT experiments (Fig. 3). This probably arises from different types of carbonyl species and/or surface distribution, depending on temperature and CO partial pressure (also affecting the band intensities) and on the presence, in the case of the DRIFT measurements, of H and CH, coadsorbed species. [Pg.621]

Diagnostic confusion and hospital admission are the direct consequences of poor or partial compliance with medically crucial prescribed drug regimens. The associated economic problems have, for most part, not yet been quantified, although some initial efforts have been made (Urquhart, 1999). [Pg.368]
