The numerous physico-chemical applications of reaction GC, which constitute a separate field of experimental physical chemistry, are not considered in this paper. The application of GC in catalysis has been treated at length by Roginsky et al. [15] and in other reviews [16—18] GC methods as applied to studies of the kinetics of homogeneous reactions are discussed in reviews [19,20]. [Pg.7]

Finally, another paper should be mentioned. In one of the first papers to showcase the potential of GA methods for computational chemistry applications, Payne and Glen described GA-based superposition and conformational analysis. The paper is very well written and provides another excellent starting point for learning about this topic. [Pg.49]

Thereafter, a full paper describing aminocarbonylations in water was published [29]. In addition to presenting the results achieved with aryl bromides, aminocarbo-nylation protocols for aryl iodides and aryl chlorides were also disclosed. More than 90 successful aminocarbonylations in water were presented (Scheme 4.14), including a medicinal chemistry application where this amidation procedure was used to synthesize a potent HIV-1 protease inhibitor from the aryl bromide (Scheme 4.15) [29]. [Pg.103]

Although its origins date back much earlier. Computational Chemistry evolved into a distinctly discernible discipline three decades ago from the conjunction of many developments. Effective computers were a prerequisite. While the very first electronic calculating machines had been employed for quantum chemistry applications, the limitations of the first commercial computers (instability, vacuum tubes with all their drawbacks, single user, little or no memory, punch cards or paper tape, cumbersome operating systems) restricted the interest to a few dedicated theoreticians. [Pg.3436]

There are tluee very important sources of up-to-date infonnation on all aspects of Raman spectroscopy. Although papers dealing with Raman spectroscopy have appeared and will continue to appear in nearly every major chemical physics-physical chemistry based serial. The Journal of Raman Spectroscopy [35] is solely devoted to all aspects, both theoretical and experimental, of Raman spectroscopy. It originated in 1973 and continues to be a constant source of mfonuation on modem applications of Raman spectroscopy. [Pg.1196]

Documentation on the reliability of the different NDO methods for various applications is scattered throughout the chemistry literature. Original papers describing the methods present relevant material. The CNDO and INDO methods are discussed in books by Pople and Beveridge and by Murrell and Harget. Compilations exist for MINDO/3 and MNDO in a book by Clark. For MNDO,... [Pg.152]
