PANS definition

The burden must have a definite sohdification temperature to assure proper pickup from the feed pan. This limitation can be overcome by side feeding through an auxiliary rotating spreader roll. Apphcation hmits are further extended by special feed devices for burdens having oxidation-sensitive and/or supercoohng characteristics. The standard double-drum model turns downward, with adjustable roll spacing to control sheet thickness. The newer twin-drum model (Fig. ll-55b) turns upward and, though subject to variable cake thickness, handles viscous and indefinite solidification-temperature-point burden materials well. 

The N-doped carbons with a nanotube backbone combine a moderate presence of micropores with the extraordinary effect of nitrogen that gives pseudocapacitance phenomena. The capacitance of the PAN/CNts composite (ca. 100 F/g) definitively exceeds the capacitance of the single components (5-20 F/g). The nitrogen functionalities, with electron donor properties, incorporated into the graphene rings have a great importance in the exceptional capacitance behavior. 

A few definitive experiments are needed to complete our knowledge of acute dose-response relationships for ozone. Research is necessary in the case of PAN and other oxidants. More important is the need for studies of crop and native species over growing seasons with chronic oxidant exposures. At the same time, additional work with field chambers, filtered or nonfiltered, is needed. 

From the foregoing discussion, there are clearly many issues to be confronted when scaling up the pan-coating process. Evidently, the more definitive data that are developed initially, the less likely that major problems will occur later on, especially problems that could inevitably delay a product launch and cost much in the way of lost revenues, particularly when dealing with a potentially blockbuster drug product.
