Rotating spreader

The burden must have a definite sohdification temperature to assure proper pickup from the feed pan. This limitation can be overcome by side feeding through an auxiliary rotating spreader roll. Apphcation hmits are further extended by special feed devices for burdens having oxidation-sensitive and/or supercoohng characteristics. The standard double-drum model turns downward, with adjustable roll spacing to control sheet thickness. The newer twin-drum model (Fig. ll-55b) turns upward and, though subject to variable cake thickness, handles viscous and indefinite solidification-temperature-point burden materials well. [Pg.1090]

Rotating spreader n. A type of torpedo used in plunger-type injection machines that consisted of a finned torpedo rotated by a shaft extending through the cored injection ram behind it. This was soon superseded by the screw-injection machine. [Pg.849]

Several devices for mixing or plasticating the melt in an injection molding cylinder are used. One is the rotating spreader, in which the spreader or torpedo is fitted with blades and rotated by means of a shaft passing through the ram to an external drive. A second technique is to replace the ram with a movable screw, much like an extruder screw, which runs during part of the cycle to provide plastication and... [Pg.406]

A scent can be propelled into the environment. The most spectacular example is the manure spreader of the hippopotamus the rotating tail sprays about urine and feces (Olivier and Laurie, 1974). [Pg.57]

Be sure to use flame spreader and rotate tube lengthwise in hot zone until glass is pliable. [Pg.42]

While rotating the plate by hand, gently distribute the sample over the agar s surface using the sterilized glass spreader ( hockey stick ). Many laboratories utilize turntables for this purpose. Replace Petri plate cover and discard spreader into disinfectant. [Pg.199]

The 20 cm-spreader with rotatable jacket (Fig. 12 A) and with the possibility of simple adjustment of layer thickness between 0 and 2 mm, which was then developed [661, 685] was commercially available by 1958 (Firm 44) and is the most used TLC spreader. The mass... [Pg.54]

A major part of film, sheet, coating, pipe, profile, etc. lines involve windup rolls. They include winders, dancer rolls, lip rolls, spreader rolls, textured rolls, engraved rolls, and cooling rolls. All have the common feature that they are required to be extremely precise in all their operations and measurements. Their surface conditions include commercial grade mirror finishes, precision bearings and journals are used, and, most important, controlled variable rotating speed controls to ensure uniform product tension control. [Pg.34]
