A multitude of nucleases cleave DNA, single- or double-stranded. The pancreas is 12 to 15 cm in length and lies across the posterior wall of the abdominal cavity. Pancreatic juice is alkaline because of its high content of HCOj. It neutralizes the acidic chyme from the stomach, aided by the bile and small intestinal juices.
