Paints thickening agents

Catalysis, soaps and detergents, paints, adhesives, and ink paper and paper coating pigments thickening agents and lubricants (see Vignettes 1.9 and IX)... [Pg.6]

The addition of thickening agents to paints, pharmaceutical products and adhesives has many functions and the most important is for flow behaviour, gap filling and wetting ability for paints and adhesives. They are added at variable concentrations to pharmaceutical... [Pg.227]

Use In foods as stabilizer, thickener, emulsifier, and packaging material cosmetics sizing and finishes for textiles pharmaceuticals paints, bonding agent in paper manufacture drilling fluids. [Pg.240]

Use Food products (except confectionery), as thickening agent, stabilizer, emulsifier thickener in paint-stripping preparations. [Pg.677]

Cellulose ethers, more particularly methyl cellulose (MQ, methylhydroxypro-pyl cellulose (MHPC) and hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) are used as protective colloids also called primary suspending agents in suspension polymerization for the manufacturing of S-PVC. Their role is maintaining the particle size of the resin. Hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) is preferred for manufacturing of vinyl acetate emulsion polymers and as a thickening agent in dispersimi paints. [Pg.115]

Rheocin. [United Catalysts] Trihydtoxy-stearin thixotropes, thickening agents for paints and coatings. [Pg.315]

In industry, sodium polyacrylate is used in filtration units that remove water from airplane and automotive fuel. It is also used as a thickening agent in coatings and adhesives used in the upholstery, drapery, carpet, paper, paint, wallpaper, printing, and textile industries. The compound is also used to thicken certain liquid products applied by spraying, such as cleaning products. Finally, it is sometimes used to prevent fluid loss in oil wells. [Pg.776]

The German emulsion contains (by weight) tetrachlorethane (15%), anionic surfactant (1%), calcium hypochlorite (8%) and water (76%). When sprayed on a surface, a thin, coherent film is formed that allows sufficient time for reaction with the agent to occur. It is non-corrosive, good for thickened agents and can penetrate into paint to react with embedded agent without damaging the paintwork. [Pg.806]

The use of surfactants for the manufacture of printing paints deserves an individual discussion. Surfactants and their mixtures with high-molecular compounds are used in preparation of thickening agents which are indispensable components of all printing paints [204]. [Pg.572]

Products and Uses A thickening agent in detergents, soaps, dietetic foods, ice cream, emulsion paints, cosmetics (toothpaste, hair products, blusher, shaving creams), laxatives, and antacids as an emulsifier, stabilizer, and foaming agent. [Pg.83]

Solid emulsions are relatively new. They are highly structured, white, interior-wall paints which do not drip or splash during application. The thixotropic character is achived by using a titanium chelate as a thickening agent. [Pg.265]
