Painting processes cleaning

There are three main steps to current painting processes o cleaning of plastic parts o surface treatments o painting. [Pg.760]

It should be noted that the materials and operations used in a plant maintenance effort may involve a new set of hazards quite separate from the exposure hazards encountered with feedstocks, intermediates, and products for the process plant. For example, proper maintenance often involves such operations as welding, sandblasting, painting, chemical cleaning, catalyst handling, and insulation replacement. The maintenance of safe conditions requires extensive worker training in each one of these operations. [Pg.51]

In most applications the solvent disappears, usually by evaporation, after it has served its purpose. Solvents are used in refining processes and the manufacture of paints, inks, cleaning products, adhesives, and petrochemicals. [Pg.7183]

A process to recover ethylene dichloride, EDC, and methylene dichloride, MDC, using activated carbon fibers, ACF, is discussed in this section. The gas at approximately 50°C, containing EDC and MDC is received from a painting process. It is pretreated by a filter to remove dusts and passed through a heat exchanger to cool it down to approximately 30-40°C. The pre-treated gas is fed to adsorption columns filled with ACF where the gas is cleaned sufficiently for it to be safely released to atmosphere. [Pg.1549]

In some cases, the parts are coated without going through a washing process as they come out of the injection-molding machine. This is fairly rare as most parts pass through a four-phase aqueous power wash and a dryer. After cleaning, usually a pretreatment step follows to ensure paint adhesion before the painting process of primer, basecoat, and clearcoat is applied. [Pg.323]
