Paint systems vinyl paints

Uses Deaerating agent for med.-polar solv.-based systems, esp. NC-containing systems, vinyl paints, and acid-curing baking finishes (all -melamine and urea, acrylic-melamine, epoxy ester, high solids OEM finishes) food-contact coatings defoamer in food-contact paper/paperboard... [Pg.838]

A variety of thermosetting resins are used in SMC. Polyesters represent the most volume and are available in systems that provide low shrinkage and low surface profile by means of special additives. Class A automotive surface requirements have resulted in the development of sophisticated systems that commercially produce auto body panels that can be taken direcdy from the mold and processed through standard automotive painting systems, without additional surface finishing. Vinyl ester and epoxy resins (qv) are also used in SMC for more stmcturaHy demanding appHcations. [Pg.96]

They are applied by wet paint spray techniques and have the advantage, over other paint systems, of long-term flexibility. Conventional alkyd systems may have an initial degree of flexibility, but within 12 months outside become rigid and then crack due to thermal expansion and contraction of the substrate. This phenomenon is less likely to occur with a well formulated vinyl solution. [Pg.751]

The thermoelectric fire tests confirmed the fire-resistance of the navy stock fire-retardant interior white and experimental red deck paints (systems 1 and 5) and demonstrated the flammability of the navy deck gray, white enamel, vinyl-alkyd, and alkyd-chlorinated rubber paints, systems 2, 3, 4 and 6. [Pg.65]

There are numerous types of paint employed in the protection of steel and they are designed to meet the conditions imposed by the environment in which they are expected to function. For steel exposed to the atmosphere, the most common type of paint system is based on alkyl resin and this may be mixed with other types or may itself be chemically modified for a specific purpose, e.g. vinyl toluenated or styrenated to give rapid drying. Other generic types are chlorinated rubber, vinyl, acrylic, epoxy, and polyurethane. All have particular attributes and limitations and selection is usually a matter of discussion between user and supplier. [Pg.270]

Electrical Insulation Paints. Resols combined with poly(vinyl butyral), oil-free polyester resins, or poly(vinyl formal), as plasticizing components are used for this special application. The presence of small amounts of free phenols can increase the reactivity of these systems. These paints are used to coat wires, sheet metal for transformers and dynamos, as well as to impregnate electric motor windings. The paints are cross-linked at 100-300°C. [Pg.89]

Aqueous systems such as silicate paints and vinyl or acrylic emulsion paints are suitable for opaque and semitransparent coatings. Silicate paints have a high degree of hardness and good permeability to water vapor and gas. Evaporation of moisture is not hindered, peeling and flaking are therefore avoided. [Pg.263]

N-Methylpyrrolidone [872-50-4] (NMP) has a fairly mild, amine-like odor, and is miscible with water and most organic solvents. It has a good solvency for cellulose ethers, butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymers, polyamides, polyacrylonitrile, waxes, polyacrylates, vinyl chloride copolymers, and epoxy resins. It is used in paint removers and stripping paints to reduce paint viscosity, and to improve the wettability of paint systems. A -Methylpyrrolidone is also employed for the extraction of hydrocarbons, and as a solvent in the synthesis of acetylene. [Pg.374]

Uses Defoamer for solv.-based paints, esp. long-oil and med.-oil airdrying alkyd resins systems, wood preservatives, vinyl resin paints, acrylic resin paints, nitrocellulose paints, chlorinated rubber paints Features Highly effective... [Pg.28]

Uses Mar resist, aid, flow aid, leveling agent, surf. tens, reducer, wetting agent for solv.-based paints (PU, vinyl, alkyd-melamine, acrylate-isocyanate), one-coat systems, anticorrosive paints, wood/furniture varnishes, printing inks... [Pg.844]

Four-Coat Vinyl Painting System (For Fresh Water, Chemical, and Corrosive Atmospheres)... [Pg.862]

The corrosion inhibition and water resistance are obtained by paint systems formed by several anticorrosive coats based on epoxy, vinyl, chlorinated mbber, or bituminous coatings. [Pg.706]

Painting System Specification No. 4.00 Guide for Selecting Vinyl Painting Systems... [Pg.816]

The guide covers vinyl painting system for blast cleaned or pickled steel. These systems are suitable for use on parts or structures exposed in Environmental Zones lA (interior, normally dry), 2A (frequently wet by fresh water), 2B (frequently wet by salt water), 2C (fresh water immersion), 2D (salt water immersion), 3A (chemical, acidic), and 3B (chemical neutral). The color of the finish paint must be specified. [Pg.816]
