The selectivity for (/ ,/ )( ,S)-10 has been rationalized by invoking a synperiplanar enolate species whose conformation is enforced by a donor(enolate oxygen)- acceptor) peril uo-rophenyl) interaction depicted in structure N47. Infrared and variable temperature NMR spectroscopic studies of the neutral precursor complex 8 support the existence of such a donor-acceptor interaction. 

Rather than cutting the fuel gas back to reach a 680°F outlet temperature using more air, and to save fuel, our friend went on to explain how, in peril of exceeding a management directive to maintain a certain oxygen content in the stack gases, he in fact hastily shut down the third blower and therefore dropped the furnace temperature back to 680°F but also obviously continued to run fuel-rich, without enough air. 

As mentioned before, a Pseudomonas incognita was isolated by enrichment technique on the monoterpene alcohol linalool that was also able to grow on geraniol, nerol and limonene [36]. The metabolism of limonene by this bacterium was also investigated [37]. After fermentation the medium yielded as main product a crystallic acid, perillic acid, together with unmetabolised limonene, and some oxygenated compounds dihydrocarvone, carvone, carveol, p-menth-8-en-1 -ol-2-one, p-menth-8-ene-1,2-diol or p-menth-1 -ene-6,9-diol (structure not fully elucidated) and finally / -isopropenyl pimelic acid.

An ozonizer similar to that described by Henne and Peril-stein 2 was employed. At an oxygen flow rate of 30 l./hr. it produced about 30 millimoles of 03 per hour (3% conversion). Under these conditions the ozonization of 25 g. of pyrene requires about 6 hours. 

Devon and Scott s Handbook91) essential oil from Salvia dorisiana92 contains perillyl acetate and the rare methyl perillate (34 R = C02Me) tricyclene is present in Agathis australis as a major component,93 and ds-carveyl acetate is a major component in Japanese spearmint (Mentha spicata crispa).94 Some rare oxygenated menthanes have been isolated from Mentha gentilis,95 and from Piper nigrum.96...
