Output Power Capability of Aqueous Fuel Cells

2 Output Power Capability of Aqueous Fuel Cells [Pg.93]

With hydrogen as fuel and with each cell at a polarization voltage of 0.78 V and with a current density of 130 Alft , this particular fuel cell has a watt per pound ratio of about 22 and a volumetric power density of 1.5 kW/ft. If the power module has 20 cells and each cell has an output voltage of 0.76 V, a power density of 130 A/ft., and a module efficiency of 65%, the total power output will be around 1.32 kW. [Pg.93]

With ammonia at 77°C and a caustic electrolyte, a current density of 160 A/ft. at 0.3 V can be achieved, and an output power per volume ratio can be achieved initially. During the life tests, however, the current density drops to less than 50 A/ft. at 0.3 V after continuous operation of 700 h. [Pg.93]

This fuel cell can be operated with methanol and other alcohols as fuels along with acid and alkaline electrolytes and air or oxygen as the oxidant. Prototype cell designs have demonstrated the cell s continuous power exceeding 1 kW. Such devices have demonstrated current densities better than 80 A/ft. at 0.3 V and a [Pg.93]
