It is a non-steroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID) and used mainly as its sodium salt for the relief of pain and inflammation in various conditions, such as musculoskeletal and joint disorders viz., rheumatoid, arthritis, osteoarthritis and ankylosing spondolytis peri-articular disorders, for instance bursitis and tendenitis soft-tissue disorders, such as sprains and strains and other painful conditions, namely renal colic, acute gout, dysmenorrhoea, and following certain surgical procedures.

The use of AM in various surgical procedures has been proven to facilitate bone repair and cartilage regeneration as matrix. As reported earlier, the success of AM as spacer in the TMJ preventing ankylosis as compared to normal gap arthroplasty shows that AM can be used as a joint filler to prevent bony surfaces from fusing. Other studies have shown AM has potential for cartilage regeneration and osteoarthritis (OA) attenuation. 

In conclusion, Adlea appears to exhibit promise as a novel analgesic in the treatment of acute surgical pain, osteoarthritis, and conditions of chronic neuropathic pain. It remains unclear whether or when it will receive FDA approval. The merging of Anesevia into a larger company may improve the chances for funding and completion of outstanding clinical trials.
