Organotin complexes structure

As for monoanions, the crystal structures of the only diorganotin derivative 473930, two mono-organotin complexes 474a and 474b931, and a number of anions of the type 475 have been described. Selected structural parameters for these compounds are given in Table 66. 

The reaction of butyltin trichloride with l-(2-methyl-2,3-dihydrobenzotriazol-2-yl)-propan-2-one gives an organotin complex that was formulated as containing the [BuSn(OH)Cl3]2 anion " . However, a reinvestigation of the crystal structure of this complex reveals a neutral hydroxyl-bridged aqua-butyldichlorotin hydroxide dimer that is linked to four 2-methylbenzothiazole molecules by short hydrogen bonds " . 

Indeed, the majority of the higher-covalent silicon compounds studied which have an increased coordination number are formed by bi-, tri-, and tetradentate ligands similar effects are apparent with other Group IVA elements. It is likely that the structural factors are responsible for the existence of pentacoordinate pentavalence carbon species expanding the valence shell to 10 (Sect. 3.2). For the same reason that there are about twenty structures of the organotin complexes with seven- and eight-coordination...

As part of an ongoing study of dithiolate complexes of main group elements and of the coordination chemistry of tin(lV) compound, we now report the results of synthesis and structural investigation of several organotin complexes with a series of aminodithiocarboxylate ligands in solution and solid state.
