Organic compounds heat capacity data

Spaght, T., Thomas, S.B., andParks, G.S. Some heat capacity data on organic compounds obtained with a radiation calorimeter. / Phys. Chem., 36(3) 882-888, 1932. [Pg.1726]

Unless otherwise said, our preferred sources for enthalpies of formation of hydrocarbons are Reference 8 by Roth and his coworkers, and J. B. Pedley, R. D. Naylor and S. P. Kirby, Thermochemical Data of Organic Compounds (2nd ed.), Chapman Hall, New York, 1986. In this chapter these two sources will be referred to as Roth and Pedley , respectively, with due apologies to their coworkers. We will likewise also occasionally take enthalpies of fusion from either E. S. Domalski, W. H. Evans and E. D. Hearing, Heat Capacities and Entropies of Organic Compounds in the Condensed Phase , J. Phys. Chem Ref. Data, 13, 1984, Supplement 1, or E. S. Domalski and E. D. Hearing, J. Phys. Chem Ref. Data, 19, 881 (1990), and refer to either work as Domalski . [Pg.104]

A critically evaluated compilation of the heat capacities of pure liquid organic and some inorganic compounds. It covers data published between 1993 and 1999 and some data of 2000 as well as some data from older sources. This paper is an update of reference [24]. [Pg.276]

Data for a large number of organic compounds can be found in E. S. Domalski, W. H. Evans, and E. D. Hearing, Heat capacities and entropies in the condensed phase, J. Phys. Chem. Ref. Data, Supplement No. 1, 13 (1984). It is impossible to predict values of heat capacities for solids by purely thermodynamic reasoning. However, the problem of the solid state has received much consideration in statistical thermodynamics, and several important expressions for the heat capacity have been derived. For our purposes, it will be sufficient to consider only the Debye equation and, in particular, its limiting form at very low temperamres ... [Pg.67]

Very limited experimental data for heat capacity are available for inorganic compounds as compared to the more abundant experimental data which are available for organic compounds. Thus, the estimates for these substances should be considered rough approximations in the absence of experimental data. The estimates are noted by the following the compound name. [Pg.362]

The NIST s Thermodynamics Research Center (TRC) has a large collection of pure-fluid thermodynamic and transport properties tables of recommended values and correlations exist both in paper form and in a computer database [12], The TRC has also produced books with comprehensive compilations for organic compounds (sometimes also available as software) for vapor pressure [17], liquid density [18], and ideal-gas heat capacity [29], in addition to a compilation on virial coefficients [32]. Their major archival database of experimental pure-component and mixture data is called Source [97] it is currently available only to members of their consortium. Some data for mixtures of organic compounds are published in the periodical Selected Data on Mixtures [49]. More information is at http //trc.nist.gov. [Pg.28]
