Optimal characteristics

An alternative method for assessing cell layer integrity is through the use of hydrophilic paracellular transport markers (e.g., radiolabeled D-mannitol or fluorescein-Na+), which passively traverse cells by the paracellular route. Small amounts of compound required for in vitro conjunctival cell culture transport experiments make this approach well suited for screening purposes. Relative absorption index of a series of pharmacologically active molecules can be ranked against known markers for the identification of candidates with potential absorption problems, which is a reliable tool to select drug candidates with optimal characteristics. 

To seek compounds with optimal characteristics for external and internal transfer on a rational basis requires an understanding of pesticide availance and how this is influenced by physico-chemical and biophysical properties to predict the most effective compounds then requires a knowledge of the relationship between these properties and molecular structure. This paper briefly reviews the considerable progress which has been made in these directions and the prospects for future advance. 

The search for new methods of HTSC synthesis is stimulated by the necessity of combining HTSCs in various devices with certain metals, semiconductors, or dielectrics. In each particular case, the technologies should be based on a method that simultaneously ensures the stability of all the materials in the configuration as well as the optimal characteristics for performance. Therefore, multistage combined methods which have the potential for optimization are finding increased use.

Tabuchi et al. [241] applied boron-doped ZnO films combined with a ZnO/AgAl back reflector to amorphous silicon solar cells. They observed the following optimal characteristic values = 18.6 mAcm , = 0.893 V, efficiency 11.9%, fill factor = 0.715.
