Optical color

Abstract. We use intermediate resolution (II, 19 300) spectroscopic observations in the spectral region including the Li 6708 A line to study 341 stars in the star forming region (SFR) NGC 6530. Based on the optical color-magnitude diagrams (CMD), they are G, K and early M type pre-main sequence (PMS) cluster candidates. 72% of them are probable cluster members since are X-ray sources detected in a Chandra-ACIS observation ([2]). We use our spectroscopic measurements to confirm cluster membership by means of radial velocities and to investigate the Li abundance of cluster members.

Lub et al. (4) prepared polyisosorbide derivatives, (IV), having high helical twisting with improved thermal stability and alignment capability for use as an optical color filter. 

Some variants of these techniques have been described by Melville/ Benington, and Bartlett. " The technique described by Melville involves the ability of II atoms and alkyl free radicals to reduce the blue oxide coat on a polished molybdenum surface. By photometrically studying the change in optical color of the surface it was shown possible to make calculations of the relative concentrations of radicals diffusing through a vapor stream to the metal oxide surface. The mathematical calculations are involved, and the difficulties already described for mirror techniques occur here too.

A development of the use of polarized light is the differential staining objective, which is used to impart optical colors to specimens mounted in a liquid of slightly different refractive index. Some specimens, including some artificial fibers and mineral fibers such as asbestos, have different refractive indices at different orientations to the plane of polarized light. 

We first show that the observed K band magnitudes of galaxies can be accurately predicted from their optical colors. We construct a simulated K magnitude from R and 1 bands by defining Ksim = o + ai I + 2 B, and find the value of the coefficients that minimize as...
