In addition to PCP, other sigma opiate agonists, particularly SKF 10,047, accelerate striatal DA turnover. A small (+15%) but significant elevation of DOPAC levels occurs in the striatum of SKF 10,047-treated rats (128). 

SP antagonists have been shown to inhibit the vasodilatation and plasma extravasation induced by antidromic stimulation of the saphenous nerves or by the infusion of SP [64]. In these experiments somatostatin also inhibited the effect due to antidromic stimulation but not that induced by infusion of SP. Interestingly, the opiate agonist, [DMet2-Pro5]enkephalinamide, also inhibited the vasodilatation evoked by antidromic nerve stimulation but not that induced by SP infusion [64],... 

The recent discovery of a class of peptides, the enkephalins, which act as opiate agonists has led to a number of physical chemical studies aimed at understanding the structure-activity relationships between the enkephalins and the opiates (1 -9). 

The following drug classes may have a potential drug interaction with nevirapine Antiarrhythmics, anticonvulsants, antifungals, calcium channel blockers, cancer chemotherapy (cyclophosphamide), ergot alkaloids, immunosuppressants, motility agents, opiate agonists.

Opiates are the most effective non-specific agents, and the peripheral opiate agonist loperamide may be adequate in most individuals. Whilst giving such empirical treatment the possible need of fluid replacement must be remembered. Opiates are not replacements for oral rehydration fluids (based on salt and glucose) or intravenous rehydration fluids in acute diarrhoea. 

Symptom patterns those with alternating constipation and diarrhoea and predominant constipation may benefit from high fibre diets (although excess fibre may bloat). Those with predominant diarrhoea may require simple peripheral opiate agonists (loperamide), but may also be helped by raised fibre intake. Pain may respond in part to explanation that it does not indicate serious illness and in part to spasmolytic therapy with anticholinergic agents which... 

Additional dual 5HT-NE reuptake inhibitors include sibutramine, which is approved for the treatment of obesity but not depression. Tramadol is a kappa opiate agonist approved for the treatment of pain, but it also has serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor properties. Dual reuptake inhibitors in clinical testing as antidepressants include milnacipran and duloxetine.
