Facility assessment of toxicological data, quantity of material used, and operating conditions indicated plausible conditions exist which could cause serious health effects to nearby receptor. 

OFET responses to an analyte vapor of wide interest can be enhanced by the appending of simple receptor functionality to the OSC molecules, and by the use of OSC heterostructures. Particular protocols for addressing the devices have also been developed. Thus, progress is demonstrated toward the speed, sensitivity, stability, and selectivity requirements of the national security research community. More importantly, careful consideration of many of the electronic and chemical mechanisms that could lead to sensor response allow for performance evaluation at a range of voltages, and predictions of optimal operational conditions. Existing data on characteristics of particles from various types of sources are inadequate for general use, though they have been used in specific studies with some success. Most of the source tests have been made for purposes other than receptor modeling and complete chemical and microscopical analyses have not been performed. Source operating parameters which might affect the aerosol properties of emissions have not been identified nor measured in ambient sampling and no provision is made for likely transformations of the source material when it comes into equilibrium under ambient conditions.
